4x15 hour shifts a week

Hi All

I work for a breakdown recovery firm on a 4 on 4 off rota. I’m wondering if i could make each day a 15 hour shift without causing an issue? for example

Start End Rest
Monday 08:00 23:00 9 hours
Tuesday 08:00 23:00 9 hours
Wednesday 08:00 23:00 9 hours
Thursday 08:00 23:00 4 days

i know you can reduce daily rest to 9 hours between shifts 3 times a week but i also remember hearing that that you have to calculate it for each separate day

Thanks

From the limited info presented, no.

What more info do you need?

Are you on EU regs or UK domestic regs

EU Regs as we go to far away from base every day. Tacho in without fail

In that case no, it’s not legal. There is one “cheat” to get around that and make it possible though, and that is if on one of your working days you have AT LEAST 3 hours of uninterrupted break. That then would count as a split break and enable you to do 4 x 15 hours. Having said that, I used to work on recovery and in my experience you’ll not get many chances for an uninterrupted 3 hour break unless you’re keeping the vehicle at home and only responding to call outs.
