Had my reversing & coupling/decoupling training yesterday.The tractor Unit had an extended walkway extending around the fifth wheel.
I found with the reduced clearence between trailer & walkway, my short arms were unable to reach the dog clip to detatch/attach it.
I ended up using a pair of pipe plies, which took some practice.Has anyone had this issue? Is it common? Sent from my SM-S918B using Tapatalk
I prefer to really get my head and shoulder right in between the wheel arch and trailer till my stomach is literally touching the wheel arch. I find this helps a LOT.
Yeah, tried another truck without the walkway and it was fine. The issue appears to be trucks with a “walkway” extended around the fifth wheel. As it raises the hight & reduces size of the gap between truck & trailer.
