Sorry also to be the bearer of sad news, some may already know, my Mum told me at the weekend that she had been to John Meredeths funeral last monday who had died the week before.
Apparently a number of ex comart drivers where there as would be expected, she mentioned that Terry Lewis, Phil Darlow, Jake and Bill Smith and Phil Bunch attended and few others that she did not remember the names of

Another good driver joining the Truckstop in the sky

Hi All,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, just called at my Mums and she has seen in the local paper that Dennis Moore as sadly past away, this week, Dennis was transport manager at Comarts while Clive Smith owned it and then went on to form Moorlocks with Morris Lockett backed by Clive.

Nick,

Ant

Hello all,I was just trawling through the thread and I must say there are some first class photos here, they bring back a lot of memories. There’s a couple of pics of SVT 953N,me and my brother Geoff(the crow)Taylor bought that truck off Malcome Harrison after Comart had finished. It was the first of 4 F89’s we owned and we kept it for many years, mainly doing Italy but it also did a couple of years on the middle east.It was Geoffrey’s pride and joy. There are a couple of pictures of it taken a few years ago on the Astrans thread on page 157.

Evening all, Tony, SVT953N, supplied ex Hartshornes by my pal Rob Owens, to Clive Smith, then post the takeover, to Malcolm, (along with quite a few others, and then to you. Lovely, lovely lorries,I think the best Volvos ever, (but I am getting on now)!!

Most of the Hartshorne, Walsall, F88s, had a rectangular bar beneath the front bumper, housing four rectangular spots. Designed, and fabricated “in house”, by the late Ray Gilkes, in our body shop. This design carried on for years, (you can see one on the DOW thread).

Clever man Clive, Comart, into Unilever, then up shoots MoorLock!!

Had a Range Rover from me, (I think mid 80s), had an accident in it! I could not get the bits to mend it… at least not a new steering wheel, received a “communication” from his lawyer…“Mr Smith is recovering, which is more than can be said for his motor car”!!!..Think I sent a crate of something red, and nice, (and eventually returned his car )!!!

Funny how “the Potts”, were quite an International transport centre, Markham et Burgess, at Thor, (now there are some stories), Ron Carman…“Im not paying that”,…then wondered why I drove away in the F86 he really wanted!! Ken Berresford, always a Gentleman, Clive, (a very clever man), ■■■■ Chapman,…I`ve driven myself to another large Bollinger, just the memories, and who were the two lads who ran Commercial Engineers, and had the business “taken off them”, by Fiat, about 78, and Fiat put in an ex Lex man, who ended up specialising in Ivecos, down Chemical Lane■■?

My little grey cells are failing, I need another Bollinger, bon nuit mes braves Cheerio for now.
