About 99.9% of large companies with newish or new motors are automatics and have been for a number of years. Manuals are generally few and far between unless on specialised work.

Stop panicking. You should be given the opportunity by the trainer assessing you to be shown the controls if you ask them and to have a quick go around the yard before doing the road test. They don’t expect you to be perfect, just safe. When I was there your first week of employment was spent doing driver training where they effectively put you through a Merc driver training course.
