Ferry mode ! .. not a question but

… if you’re travelling from France to Portsmouth
forget about using the ferry mode !!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I wasn’t actually using it but one of our drivers was.
From the time that the boat docked, to me actually leaving the portals of Portsmouth Harbour

TWO HOURS TEN MINUTES !!!

It’s a complete joke !!

3hrs 20minutes…so that beats you!
My boss has asked the questions, and this is the “new normal”.
To do with the Home Office and hence Border Force doing extra controls.
.
Two lanes open? Acres of space alongside? Border Force standing around as one truck at a time is checked? Trucks cant get off the linkspan so the boat cant load?
Wait until the punters come back again too!
Yeah, we are Brexit ready!
Look forward to a nice summer, mate.

Border force doing what they do best, being ineficient and standing around looking like they’re doing a worthwhile job.

Shower of useless clowns with an IQ that matches their shoe size.

Franglais, it’s a complete joke, you know the routine and it beggars belief !

When you finally arrive at the booth, the dog goes round the truck, curtainsiders get the CO2 prod,
fridges may have to open the doors, then after all this blox they send you to either the scanner or the shed. or both.
Once at the customs shed, I told them it was a split load, 8 pallets of fresh at the back at +2
and the other side of the bulkhead a full load of frozen at -25, opens the doors
and they wanted to see the load of frozen, so off comes the 8 pallets and up goes the bulkhead.
They couldn’t see much because of the mist, so off to the scanner after having shut the b/head and putting back the 8 fresh.

complete farce.!!!

Why not just send me straight to the scanner seeing as that I’d told them what was loaded ?

And just to add, it’s going to get worse !!

At the moment it’s just 2 boats arriving at different times.

When the full service resumes, wtf is it going to be like in the evenings
when the Caen , le Havre and the Spain boats all arive within a periond of 30 minutes ?

I’m just glad that the Caen boat arrives first

I think that Le Havre boat isn’t coming back all this summer? Not the Poole route?
But you’re right. With just two lanes the officers spend more time with hands in pockets than actually doing checks.
Should be possible to speed it up by just rearranging traffic lanes.

That’s ridiculous. Portsmouth has always been a pain in the arse to get out of

What pee’s me off about this is, you arrive in France ,
Caen, Cherbourg, Dieppe , load’s of room to park up and finish a break !
Portsmouth, non monsieur, NO PARKING !!
Newhaven, not enough room to swing a cat in !!

At least in Poole, once cleared, you can finish your break in the port
