Why oh why.there was a big space to the left to spin around
Is it just me who feels a bit sorry for him?
I wonder if that was CMH and his retribution against the cowboy outfit that tried to force him to run over-loaded and with no breaks
nearly there:
Why oh why.there was a big space to the left to spin around
Yes it does look like there’s more room had he tried turning a bit earlier, he probably couldn’t have done much more damage if he just shut his eyes and went for it.
Rhythm Thief:

Nope, as said, there is plenty of room on the left hand side but he went past it.
He had an audience, and had to be seen to do something, anything, even if it was wrong.
Then, at three minutes into the clip, he started to do the correct thing - shunt back and forwards to straighten up so he could reverse. But by then it was too late.
This video was discussed at length sometime ago. I’ll see if I can find it.
Poor truck looks like it took a battering. Does seems very odd why he didn’t shunt straight back and swing it round in that big empty space on the left??
If you read some of the posts on the ex-pats forum this company, Swifts, are usually ridiculed! Seems like they’re right!
Yeah I’ve seen it before in here too, still feel sorry for him but he should have stopped when it started jackknifing

So he didn’t learn from his mistake the first time…

I found it difficult to watch. Poor bloke must have lost all his mental faculties to keep at it that long.

No! But I couldn’t remember if I’d seen this or not!
After 5 years of driving on this continent, this sort of thing doesn’t surprise me at all any more. You see some truly shocking driving here, the likes of which you’d never find in the UK and its all quite common place. Its a bit like Turkey I suppose, they all drive in an appalling manner so it kind of works. American’s in general are very poor drivers and the driver turnover rate at most big US trucking companies is actually more than 100% per year and they will literally employ anybody off the street who is willing to sign their legal forms and get themselves in to some serious debt in order to get a CDL (commercial driving licence) under falses promises of potential miles, wages, home time etc and then can’t leave because they’ll be sued.
A friend of mine (English) was backing in to a parking space in the Flying J truckstop in Winchester, Virginia a few months ago when a truck comes roaring in from the back (pulled through the rear parking space) and then starts waving his arms about, getting aggressive and jumps out of his cab giving it large. My mate is also a big chap, all tattooed up and looking the part and jumps out to meet this clown, who immediately backs down and confesses that he’s only been driving two weeks and that he doesn’t know how to go backwards so he can only park by pulling forwards through parking spaces. When asked how the hell he backs on to bays at customers, he said he doesn’t, everything is dropped out in yards and all his does is back on to a trailer and drives off, forwards and when he gets back to base, the yard shunter has to reverse his truck on to a door. You couldn’t make it up. Welcome to the USA.
Its because of this type of driving standard that I prefer to fuel up and shower in a truckstop and then go and park in a rest area, an industrial estate or inside the customer, purely because I don’t want one of the tens of thousands of idiots on the road to tear the front of my truck off while trying to park next to me, or when they’re pulling out the next morning and proceed to do a 90’ turn from the word go, a common American habit that sees the truck next to them smashed to pieces on the rear overhang of their trailer, as they speed off in the dark, trying to escape before anyone can do anything about it.
