He was a big man - 6 foot 10, probably 7 foot with the box cut but height aside, he also had long arms - arms that reached around countless people in their times of needs. Rick was my friend. Rick and his very very special wife saved my marriage which ultimately lead to my wife being diagnosed with cancer, treated and surviving. Rick and Jules did many things for many people. More than I can recount here. Men like that don’t come around too often and when they do, they leave a lasting memory. Whether he was ■■■■■■■ in a German’s chips, bribing the Saudis with readers’ wives mags or feeding a load of Ghanian drivers who had been given jobs in Kuwait then ■■■■■■ over and left destitute in the sand by their recruiter, it was those long long arms which I will always remember.
Rick lived life - more than most men.
Today’s not my day for a Rick proper Rick Ellis story - but if you have any photos of stories about Rick, post them up. When the time’s right, I’ll ask his Girls and Jules to take a look here.
I’ve got time for one story, before I dive into this brandy. One of Jules friend was around their house once - hot young blonde, Rick was sorting the drinks out, their backs to Rick and he turns around, with the lasses wine glass in his hand and his balls in the glass, he asked her if she wants come wine - she ways yes, totally oblivious to the huge ■■■■■■■ nut in her empty glass, so he takes his nut out of the glass, pours the wine and then stirs it with his ■■■■. All the time, I am trying to keep a straight face at the shock of his nob in her Shiraz. Passes her the glass and says, ’ that’s not a bad one that, goes well with cheese’. Dirty ■■■■■■. My wife’s Thai - she can’t say ‘Rick’. She called him ‘Lick’, he ■■■■■■ loved it. ‘you are plick, lick’ I heard her once say. He never forgot that. Jesus, although I hadnt seen him in 3 years, I am going to miss him like hell. You are right above.

Is Rick the same one who had a business partner who was a Turk, and they recovered vehicles for finance companies. If it was the same one, i met him in the Londra, when he and Kemel was going to recover a truck from an owner driver, This owner driver was built like a brick out house, and caught one of them, trying to get into the truck, and literally threw him out on his backside into a muddy puddle, well they never got the truck, as the owner driver, thought it was too close for comfort, and decided to leave that night instead of the next morning, he was doing that trip to square up the finance company. I know he succeeded as i met him the next trip when i was going home and he was outbound. I only know of one R.E. and im sure it was him. Pretty sure he wore a black leather jacket most of the time, even in the height of summer, bought it down the Grand Bazaar `
I remember that Truck of my dads, I used to love going with him in the truck when he came home! It was so much fun! We buried Dad yesterday here in Kuwait, where his heart was, in the Desert… My partner & I live in Kuwait, which means we will take good care of his grave site. Wednesday we will be having an open house for condolences, just Kuwait alone we have around 80people coming. My father touched so many peoples lives it’s incredible!!! Please keep the stories & pictures coming!
Thanks
Krissy, aka “Ricks Youngest”
Like many,I ran into Rick at different times and in different places.
In this picture, this was his truck parked a few in front of me in the queue at the Cizre/Zahko border.
When I had the Scania 142 on Expo Freight,I went to the trouble of fitting a kitchen in the cab and a shower under the front grille,so whenever he saw me I was greeted with,“Hello you poser”.
Those who met him will never forget him,we have indeed lost a friend, the trucking world is all the poorer at his loss.
RIP Rick.
How can i ever forget Rick Ellis and his family.
He was a great big man with a great big heart.
He took me into his family home in Kuwait in my hour of need and managed to find that Johnny walker to help me forget my problems,
His daughter Krissy and partner Marcus were also in valuable to me.
I will never forget him trying to interfere while his wife Jules was cooking a massive snapper fish , It still brings a smile to my face.
Rick you were a great man who had an adventurous life you will be sorely missed.
We think we are truckers but i could never match some of the things you did.
Will miss you mate,
Love to Jules .Marcus and Krissy.
