Thing is apparently it costs the nhs 2.5 billion to treat smokers and societal cost of 14.8 billion.[5] HMRC. National statistics: Tobacco Bulletin. November 2021
Smokers paid £10 bn in tax.Seems pretty clear to me that smokers cost more than they pay in tax.

if you get a smoking related disease then go use your insurance no free treatment.Try looking at what private health insurance companies really offer and exclude in the real world. Chronic disease is often time limited. Get ill. Stop work and soon ypu
ll be back on the NHS. Private insurance does have a place (unfortunately) but you won
t get a life long policy, for the money you pay on tobacco.i have looked at private insurance and the only real stipulation i have is i cant claim for a back injury in s4 - s5 for the next two years
by your calculation of 2023 costs using 2021 revenue the drinkers should of paid 30bn then to bad they only paid 12.106 million

Have I said anything, anywhere, other than that alcohol is anything other than a damaging drug?
I did refute your claim that tobacco taxes pay for more than the damage they cause and cost us all.
Private insurance comes in many different forms, with many differing levels of care. I dont know what you have/haven
t been quoted, but lots of insurance policies are there to guarantee your mortgage payments or provide income for your family, they are not there to pay for treatment.
They often cover acute treatment but not chronic treatment. (They will pay for a broken leg that is fixed after a few months, they won`t pay for years of cancer treatment)
