Statins

dozy:
Now got a blood test for livers apparently , to see whether to continue to take statins !! Informed them I stopped taking them a month ago , who told you to stop taking them , pharmacist, said she’d see doctor as he should be the only one telling me to stop taking them
Told to resume taking them & blood appointment early sept

Who told you a doctor is the only person who can tell you to stop taking them? The receptionist?
A pharmacist is as well qualified, if not better, than a doctor is, and a specialist in drugs. They can tell you to stop taking a drug, especially if a side effect of the drug is affecting you adversely.
However, you should have informed your doctor straight away, that you had stopped taking them and why. Different statins can then be tried until one that suits you is found.

Some useless trivia for ya. In general, a medical doctor has not done enough to earn the academic right to call themself Doctor. It’s a privilege granted to them by academia.
Doctor is an academic title granted to someone who has earned it by publishing a minimum number of ‘papers’ which have been peer reviewed and approved. This level takes several years more, after gaining a Masters degree, which takes a couple of years or more after gaining a Bachelors degree. A medical doctor hasn’t even gained a Bachelors degree, although they can do if they like. Same as you or I can. They do a 4 or 5 year training course, but a lot of that is hands on at hospitals, not academic, thank Thor. I’m not knocking medical Doctors btw.
