Who else is a sinner?

Juddian:
The reason most sensible drivers aint daft enough to join in any fiddle, is that when (not if) the fool operating the scam gets caught, i am certain the powers that be will nullify every single module that person has entered onto the system, all of a sudden you aint covered.

Employers of the decent variety pay for the course and pay the employees to attend, we’re doing one module a year, nice easy day and the bods who take us make it useful and fairly interesting.

Exactly the same here.

IF one is paying to go on these so-called “Courses” then they are all going to be boring. What one wants to hear when one is paying for the “info” - is decent info, like “where the well-paid jobs are at” or “which speed cameras work” etc etc.

If, on the other hand - the company is paying for the course AND you are doing it on company time - then as far as I’m concerned, they could have me making the tea, reading aloud from a ladybird book, and breathing deeply - for the 7 hours in which I’m taking a glorified scene-change break from driving once in a while. :sunglasses:

7 hours…i thought it was 35■■ or are you doing one day at a time instead of the weeks course…BTW…its the rolls royce causing the problem in the car park…not the sports car, as it belongs to a woman. ha ha

Was supposed to do a day a few months ago but couldn’t bring myself to do it.
Was on a Sunday and I wasnt being paid for it… Also I would of had to socialise with all the other drivers…

Doing one a year like a good boy, last one we coloured in a fellow driver with biro, the poor bugger looked like he’d fell asleep in a tattoo parlour for the criminally insane.

I also had me flask nobbled with custard creams (I almost flounced off in tears) and spent most of the time trying to veer off topic with ■■■■■■ references.

After 5 hours we had all had enough and buggered off, pretended we had started 2 hours early.

I always get one or two drivers who have to pass on their “experiences” to the group and go on and on despite all the yawns, bored looks and people chatting amongst themselves.

A mate of mine done a session last Saturday.
He told me they done a mug shot of him at the start and at the finish, to prove he had attended the full 8 hours of purgatory…is this the done thing now?

Yes they compare the photos to make sure the light has gone from the eyes and a souless husk is all that remains, it’s how they know you’ve done the entire 8 hours.

He had to fill out a questionaire about the course.at end of day, at which time he was totally ■■■■■■ off sat in a room when it was a lovely hot day when he could have been at home sat in the garden with a beer.
1 question was…
.What did you learn from this course.
He put…
Where the coffee machine is in the building,.which helped me keep awake.

I wish… I don’t know if I can stand 35 hours of nonsense

And there lies the problem of today’s madness on ower roads, unqualified HGV drivers prancing up and down the country,
That did not attend the course claiming that they no it all,the hgv test was the bottom run of the ladder, the dcpc was put in place to help increase your education of being a better driver ,from people with vast more knowledge than the average driver,so please do the course and make it a better work place for all, every days a learning day

I don’t need some fat clown who’s done a few dayshifts in a rigid but has passed a course to say he can lecture others to tell me how to do my job.

I’ve done about two dozen first aid courses in my life, the only thing that seems to change is some vague nonsense to do with cpr and a plastic mask. I know my drivers hours inside out. I pull a fridge so being told I should fud around with curtains and put internal straps on bog roll is pretty pointless. No, it’s totally pointless in fact.

Please let me know which brain numbing 15 minute chat that’s dragged out for a full day that I’ve missed. Sitting in a classroom does not make anyone a better driver, despite what the bumchums will tell you.

So here’s my eleven reason why taking Driver CPC training can only be beneficial for the professional driver.

It will help to improve your understanding of legislation
It’s always beneficial to undertake refresher training
You may learn something new
It’s a chance to air your grievances
It will help clarify any issues or lack of understanding
It can show how you can work with your employer to help improve working conditions
You can discus the subjects in a open environment and argue your points both positive and negative
It’s a great opportunity to ask questions with a professional Driver CPC trainer and discus with other drivers
Armed with the facts, you can drive/work with confidence – no grey areas
It will help improve your working day through having a better understanding of fuel efficiency, nutrition advice, how to deal with stress, customer service, traffic law and Health & Safety
Any training when driving a large, potentially lethal vehicle can only be beneficial for the driver and the public

  1. I know my drivers hours legislation inside out, I am capable of researching things I’m not sure of without spending 7 hours being told wrong information about things such as ferry break by someone who has never done one.
  2. On something I hadn’t done before, maybe. On the things I do every day, doubtful.
  3. I’ll learn more working than sat in a classroom.
  4. Air my grievances to who? Some other drivers? Massive help that’ll be.
  5. Again, I can do my own research into anything I’m unsure of.
  6. I don’t need to “work with my employer”, maybe if I was the type to plob at a beano, corporate logistics dump I would. If I have an issue I walk in and talk to my boss. I don’t have issues because there is a mutual respect and understanding.
  7. I’d rather discuss things with my mates than a random bunch of drivers, much like I avoid talking to anyone in an RDC.
  8. A professional cpc trainer, the same type who are noted for dishing out false information and lies? Not all are like that, but being a cpc trainer doesn’t make you a font of all knowledge.
  9. Don’t have any grey areas as I make sure I understand what I am doing.
  10. I don’t drive at 62 for fuel economy, I am more than aware of efficient principles. My diet is better than probably most of the population due to being able to cook. I’m sure someone lecturing me on eating an apple instead of a custard cream will hugely improve my working day. Oh, customer service, you must mistake the lacoste badge on my polo for a McDonald’s name tag. :unamused:
  11. Hands on, practical training that benefits the driver, yes. Sitting in a classroom bored to tears, no.

I got two days cpc credit for doing my class 1 training. They threw it in for free.

Being totally honest I’d happily do another 7 hours of practising reversing an artic in real-world conditions. This would help me a lot more than sitting in a classroom. However whilst companies are lining up to pay me to practice on their kit and cover the damage I cause then I won’t be shelling out £300ish quid for this.

Yeh because look how the quality of drivers, driving and professionalism has vastly improved since it all came out…NOT. :bulb:
A ■■■■ con.
Reason to be… to look like on the surface of things that something is being done towards professionalism of drivers in the Haulage industry, where as in reality Jack ■■■■ has been done. Nothing has improved, and the only thing to come out of it is a whole new industry has been created for some, raising much revenue from the already stretched pockets of drivers. :bulb:

From my point of view I have to fund it myself and attend at my own time (weekend) when I could be spending valuable time at home having a life.
Now if it was paid for me and done in works time, (as it should be by law) bring it on.

Agree with above…

No, havent done any. Im a long term limper and last time after Id paid for my own 35 the agencies panicked and offered free days! Also, after the last one, everywhere I went they would ask to see it, then.....nothing. Nobody has asked to see it since. Its assumed I have one. The two companies I work for now have never asked to see it.
So, I will wait to see if the agency will pay for it, or failing that Im not going to bother with it. Ill take a little break from driving in September then turn up again after the heat dies down and just hope nobody asks to see it. I retire in the following May so I just need to not get caught by the filth in those 10 short few months. The fine for getting caught is cheaper and quicker than the 35hrs, so I`ll take it on the chin if worst comes to worst.

Could be a bit iffy if you’re involved in a serious rta mate.
You know how the authorities take all that dcpc crap seriously. :bulb:

I would agree with the whole load of pish a lot more if it was along the lines of that.

I don’t need to practice reversing but a day of fudding around in a lorry with some cones having a laugh is going to be of much more benefit than sleeping in a classroom.

For someone like you a day doing that after your test would be excellent plus giving you cpc hours, win win. It’ll never happen.

I can’t think of any reasons why not only taking Driver CPC training is necessary but why you, as a professional driver shouldn’t enjoy your day with like minded individuals. Rather than going into the session with a negative attitude, next time think about how beneficial Driver CPC Training can be for you, your employer and the public!

Way I see it mate you’re either on one big ■■■■ take or totally and terminally deluded.
I reckon the former rather than the latter btw
( unless of course you’re a dcpc instructor on the gravy train…hmmm. )
