Staying in cab on ferry

I used to like the food too much on the Stenna Stranraer to Belfast boat to stay in the cab, then a kip in the lounge.

Are they all Superfasts on that route now from Cairn Ryan?
Last time I did it, it used to run alternately (about 9 yrs ago) from Stranraer ,with an old tub.

Aye all the Stena’s have superfast written on the side of them but are no faster than any other ferry.

The ‘Old tub’ I was on about used to take a lot longer, (or maybe it just seemed that way  )
My face used to drop, I sometimes had a Fri evening crossing back, so wanting to get back home asap, and that old thing used to pull up to the jetty at Belfast. :unamused:

Got to admit, I do miss that Irish job.
Mostly I used to have 30 + drops, Belfast, working all the way down through the north through the South and down to Rosslare. Ship out to Fishguard, run to Dover/Calais, then back through Zeebrugge to Hull to start the process again.
Loved it and still miss it, very friendly people the Irish.

the hss was 2 hours. the old caledonia tub was 3 hours.
they scrapped the hss a few years ago now.
it was always a gamble when using it as to if you would hear any reference to the red crew being needed in the engine room as that meant 1 of the 4 engines hd went on fire again…
theres the odd sailing now with stena that dead quiet and its now 3 .1/4 hours instead of the now normal 2.1/4…p&o is always 2 hours on the dot,but you have to drive 20 mins to get down to belfast so swings and roundabout depending on where your going.
the grubs quite acceptable on both boats though.

you can always get a fish,or
just stick to egg and chips…at least you know where the egg came from…

I agree about the watertight doors, they don’t exist on an open deck ferry. I slept in the cab on Newhaven Dieppe or Poole Cherbourga

And they wonder why drivers get treated like children :unamused:
