Only 28% of voters want no deal

Winseer:
I agree with you about the bit in red, but totally disagree that insurers fully COVER for this “likely” eventuality, as you put it.

This is my beef with insurers of course. If I’m ever “medically retired”, then I’m on the scrapheap of life - NOT showered in benefits, insurance payouts, or symapthies!

The last three people I know who were pro drivers, and got “medically retired” went into a life of poverty, got a secondary illness like Cancer, and died within two years - all three of them. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

“Medical Retirement” is most dangerous to life when it has no financial cushion built-in. There isn’t much difference these days between a firm that says it’ll pay Sick Pay, and “Death in service benefit” - than working on an agency ZHC with what one thought was “adequate” insurance cover - only to find that once one crosses that one-way bridge into medical retirement - the money didn’t then materialize… :frowning:

It is even difficult for the grieving family to obtain a prompt payment after death, as the arguments then ensue that “We’re looking into causality here” plus “The disease we were prepared to cover him for - isn’t the one that just killed him, and his critical illness payments CEASED at his death from Cancer/Chrone’s disease/Multiple Sclerosis”

I was left feeling disgusted at the way the insurance industry was glossed over during the Credit Crunch in 2008… It badly needed REFORM - and got off scott-free from any intrusions into their practices.

As a person “Left Wing on FInancial Matters” - this insurance unaccountability and outright SCAMMING when it comes to “Critical Illness Cover” - happens to be one of my biggest bugbears. :imp:

Here’s a clue there’s a massive difference between the terms of a proper income protection policy v those of a ‘critical illness’ one.The former definitely covers anyone for the possibility of being medically retired ‘from their own occupation’.

As for you being left wing if I read it right you were just confirming what’s already there in the form of the ESA work capacity test which effectively means paralysis from the neck down.Thereby making the sickness part of the National Insurance scam a laughable joke and in reality just a form of tax to reduce the tax burden on high earners.Just as Thatcher intended. In which case your ideas are left wing and fix anything how ?.

It sums up my feelings about the EU and what membership has cost this country too. Also my thoughts about the current Labour Party. Their only support in the north is from pig headed dyed in the wool supporters, who are essentially turkeys voting for Christmas

Yes all dodgy Soviet/Federalist remainers trying to subvert the electoral process by pretending to be regretful Leave voters.Who would have thought it.

Let’s have voting from with bank accounts, so every vote is known to be once-only and who from every time.

If you’re ashamed or fearful about “others knowing how you voted” - then you don’t deserve to HAVE a vote.

“Only if you’re prepared to get killed for your chosen path - do you have any control of that path.”

Proof of voter ID and vote choice wouldn’t fix the issue of untrue retrospective pretence of a change of mind.Unless that change also had to be proved under that same caveat and any fraud made a criminal offence in that regard.Instead of which we have the joke of ‘postal voting’ and legalised infiltration of Political Parties and as in this case unproven, totally unbelievable, statements of ‘regret’ all with the intent of subverting the electoral process.

IE we voted to ‘leave’ the EU by definition on a ticket of an end to EU juristiction over the country’s government and affairs. It’s not rocket science and no one could have possibly not understood that simple aim and manifesto.

While selling out the country to a foreign power,in the form of making it an EU vassal state, should never have been up for discussion or vote regardless.

I don’t think the Peterborough result was “knobbled” by “extra labour votes” - but rather “a lot of missing known-to-be Brexiteer neighborhood votes”.

Brexit Party were expected to poll around 25,000 on a 72% turnout in an area that voted 60% Leave.

That the turnout was only a paltry 48% (so we’re led to believe) has let Labour hold on, it’s true - but I believe the Tories are the actual villains of the piece, as they polled over 7000 of what must be remainer voters - splitting this Remainer vote (40% in the area remember…) no less than FIVE ways… The expected result was Brexit Party winning and the Libdems coming second.

So… Where did the missing ballot box from the brexiteer neighborhood end up?

Landfill? Incinerator? “Iron Mountain” outside the area?

I don’t think the Tories would have left any evidence.

NEXT time - count the bloody ballot papers requested compared to those that actually “were received by the returning officer”.

WHO goes out of their way to ORDER a postal ballot - and then doesn’t vote?

They DID vote of course, but Anon Voting means you can nick/destroy/remove or even deface postal ballots with impunity IF you think it is going to be a one-sided result otherwise.

Let’s see what Boris Johnson’s winning margin is, bearing in mind among the Tory Members he’s expected to win 75/25 as it stands…

Imagine if Hunt wins, or Boris only wins it 52/48!!! Such a result would be so outrageous to those that voted - that I can imagine Tory MEMBERS getting on over the Brexit Party - and Losing Boris - might as well go over WITH them. There’s not much point hanging around in a party that rigged your result so you couldn’t win - is there?

Even if Boris DOES win “unapposed” - there’s this matter of “An immedaite vote of no confidence” to face, which Boris will only keep the Tories united behind him - if he quickly does a U-Turn on leaving “without a deal”, which then places him no better than May and Hunt’s “Lack of Committment.”

Oh, and Theresa May rather than Boris Johnson has done this “leak about the American Ambassador” in my mind, as SHE now gets to appoint his successor, whereas the new PM would be doing that - had Mr Ambassador been left to retire at the end of the year… May and Remainers gain, and suspicion has been put upon Boris who isn’t even a cabinet minister, let along PM yet - so why WOULD he be that “Leak”?

Salisbury - was "alienating Russia at the EU’s request with some “Porton Down Surplus” that ended up killing a dustbin diver. Now we cannot leave the EU and buy cheap natural gas from Russia. May has already seen to it that our powerstations have been de-commissioned, giving the EU the powerful card of “The big switch in the sky” should we not drop Brexit at their command before long…
May was and is the EU’s paid-for creature.

What excuse does CORBYN have?

It seems that the wider Labour party are “Europhile Remainers”, but Corbyn wants his hands on the Brexit Dividend as as “Golden Goose”…
How long would HE stay as PM - if on Day One, Brexit is CANCELLED, and we face another decade or six of Austerity to keep up the EU payments this time FOREVER?

Boris Johnson is correct: “We MUST do Brexit by October 31st.” “Kick the can down the road again - and we kick the bucket”.

Firstly in the case of vote rigging it’s obvious that every tactic is on the table and probably being used from dodgy postal votes to the usual MO of losing destroying inconvenient votes and then losing the result in an unbelievable turnout figure.

As for BoJo and Farage these are all the same people who joined a Party which is ideologically based on the idea that Federalism is good.IE two more shills to add to also now the UKIP NEC showing its true colours. How else can you explain anyone thinking that it’s ok to vote a country out of existence and into EU vassalage.

Meanwhile the clock ticks down to the Lisbon Treaty kicking in using diversionary votes and by elections to help justify the ongoing delaying tactics. While also gerrymandering whatever so called ‘democracy’ is left that they try to fool us with, using an ever increasing hostile immigrant demographic to help them do it,as part of that agenda. All obviously with a Head of State who has been onside with the project since signing us up to it from the start.Which is the obvious end game here.

Everything else is smoke and mirrors, including controlled false flag opposition Farage, and even UKIP’s NEC having shown its true colours by throwing Batten under the bus,let alone full on Tory BoJo.All to obviously cover that fateful piece of treason on her behalf and in which she can’t reverse it now without it being an admission.Make no mistake it’s because Batten made that link and called out HM on it and as expected she ran away and hid, which is what scared that controlled opposition nothing to do with TR.

What hope do we have if indeed ALL our polticians of ALL parties are conspiring against the British Public?

There was once a time when it could have been considered as “To Rule” means being able to neutralize people of the masses with impunity, and to BE ruled means “being the victim of that impunity at all times”.

Did we ever have a time in our history where “Zealot members of the public” would routinely lynch anyone opposed to the current ruler?

Those who argue “Nationalism is Dead” I would question “Was it ever alive?”

I guess we are going to find out before long if Boris Johnson is really a Brexiteer (in which case he’ll join forces with Farage) or really trying to kick Brexit down the road another three years, now that we’ve all got wise to May’s attempts to do exactly thus.

Would Britain look better as a “Federation of County Councils”?

It would expose the crappy councils immediately of course…

Imagine Lambeth trying to compete with Wandsworth for the same money to spend on the same number of residents… Hah! The very thought! :smiling_imp:

(There would have been pressure to re-instate the GLC if it were not for Ken Livingstone already being booted from the Labour Party who are so far Left and Anti-Semitic these days, that the only difference between them and Germany’s former National Socialists - is that they ain’t Nationalist!) :stuck_out_tongue:

Firstly a ‘Federation’ means exactly what we have now.In which local councils are ruled by a top down mish mash to the point where Scottish MP’s can impose local policy of the Southern Counties. Those MP’s themselves being trumped by foreign MEP’s.

As for BoJo and Farage, with both been/being fully paid up members of the Conservative ‘Federalist’ Party just like Heath,Thatcher,Major and Cameron says it all.

Almost as comedy gold as the latest round of EU appointments for the top jobs, failed German defence minister, Spanish MP with a conviction for insider trading, Christine Lagarde involved in dodgy financial dealings. In the democratic way that is the EU Ursula von der Leyen was appointed by France and Germany yes she was voted through but her nomination broke a long standing understanding in the EU parliament that whoever held the largest voting block in the parliament nominated the person for the position, but because the largest voting block is now more to the right Macron and Merkel broke this understanding completely transparent democracy at it’s best or jobs for the boys and girls whether they are fit for office or not?

Boris’ attack on the Foreign Office hurts the UK’s global standing.

As could clearly see recently, Boris and Brexiter’s are cowards, would go on their knees before Trump and America, to humiliate themselves and this country, in hope of preserving so call not so"special relationship" , make this country a vasal state beging for favours, rather than be part of an EU where all countries are real partners for each other.

Oh wait.Exactly where does it say that we have to sign up to being the 51st state of the US Federation to trade.Unlike the Treaty of Rome to Lisbon.

As for ‘cowards’ you mean a bunch of false flag pro EU quislings, trying to make any alternative look as bad as possible. Also bearing in mind that successful secession within the EU bloc isn’t exactly in the US interest so it isn’t going to help the process either.Regardless of Trump’s and Farage’s controlled opposition bs. :unamused:

A lying brexiter, called Boris Johnson put back in his box:

British rules to blame for kipper ‘plastic ice pillow’ that Boris Johnson blamed on EU in bizarre rant

Boris Johnsons’ claim that British kipper producers are being hit by EU food safety rules was branded “fake news” by Brussels, after it emerged the regulations had been imposed by the UK government.

And a European commissioner told Mr Johnson that as a potential future prime minister he should “keep a cool head”, warning him: “A fish rots from the head down.”

The Tory leadership favourite dramatically waved a smoked herring above his head as he told Tory activists at a hustings on Wednesday that producers in the Isle of Man were “furious” at the extra costs caused by EU red tape.
He claimed Brussels was demanding that each vacuum-packed kipper sent through the post had to be accompanied by a plastic ice pillow.

And he said that leaving the EU would allow the UK to end this “damaging regulatory overkill”.

But Anca Paduraru, a European Commission food safety spokesperson, told a Brussels press conference: “The case described by Mr Johnson falls outside the scope of EU legislation and is purely a UK national competence.”

And Vytenis Andriukaitis, food safety commissioner, accused Mr Johnson of spreading “fake news”, as the Isle of Man is not even part of the EU.
Mr Andriukaitis said in a string of tweets: “Boris, the Isle of Man is not bound to the EU ‘pointless and damaging’ red tape in food safety that we are proud of because it protects consumers.

“You omitted to say that the Isle of Man is not in the EU. This packaging – UK competence. Yet another smoke. #fakenews.

“I’ll add one thing. A fish rots from the head down. As potential future PM you need to keep a cool head. So after all, Boris, that ice pillow may turn out to be not so ‘pointless’.”
Mr Johnson told the final hustings of the Tory leadership campaign that the case of the kipper was an example of why the UK was right to want to leave the EU.

“If you want to understand why it is that we must leave the EU and the advantages of coming out, I want you to consider this kipper which has been presented to me just now by the editor of a national newspaper who received it from a kipper smoker in the Isle of Man who is utterly furious because after decades of sending kippers like this through the post, he has had his costs massively increased by Brussels bureaucrats who insist that each kipper must be accompanied by this, a plastic ice pillow,” he said.

“Pointless, expensive, environmentally damaging health and safety, ladies and gentlemen. When we come out therefore, we will not only be able to end this damaging regulatory overkill, but we will also be able to do things to boost Britain’s economy and we will be able to establish an identity as a truly global Britain and get our mojo back.”

As a newspaper journalist in Brussels in the 1990s, Mr Johnson made his name with a series of stories about supposed EU regulations which were repeatedly dismissed by officials as “myths”.

Responding to questions about his new claims, Ms Paduraru said: “Our main priority is the health of our citizens as well as safeguarding the standards in terms of public health and food safety, which are the highest in the world.

When it comes to the specific case mentioned, while the food business operator has an obligation to meet the microbiological requirements – the safety requirements – to ensure the safety of its food, however the sale of products from the food business operator to the final consumer is not covered by EU legislation on food hygiene.

“This means that the case described by Mr Johnson falls outside the scope of EU legislation and is purely a UK national competence. I hope this is clear, and the rules must be checked with the national authorities.“

Ms Paduraru said there were strict EU rules on temperature controls for fresh fish, but these did not apply to processed fish products.

Headline News.
‘Johnson tells porkies about fish.’
His fans won’t care, no more than Trump’s fans care about the truth.
.
Unfortunately truth and logic have long been abandoned by too many.
Reasoned argument is still out there, from both sides, but too many are ignoring it.
Positions are too entrenched to be changed.
Johnson just keeps his fans closer as they support him against any criticisms, justified or not.
