well i think we would all give her our support in her campaign for a bypass.
you are getting jumpy old son. what is best for them and best for us is the same thing and if this accident gives them villagers the chance to highlight their and our argument, then that’s good.
we all want the same thing.
proper roads.
I will sign Harrys petition for a bypass
He must have had a sense of humour bypass.
The truck would still have rolled backwards through the shop and local school even if there had been a 21 lane motorway encircling camelford

It is just giving some villagers the chance to show their stupidity. This accident does nothing for their campaign for a bypass unless they are also campaigning to move all shops and businesses out of the village to the bypass as well.
Even if there was a bypass there today the truck would have still been there doing the delivery so for that woman to claim it helps the bypass cause is just dumb.
North Norfolk!
Blimey…what a silly bugger.
If that happened I’d be stuck running South of Norwich or out to Dereham, couldn’t have that I much prefer the North norfolk runs.
Having stoked an 18tonner, and a 26t mixer round north norfolk, i’d suggest banning farm traffic first

Ad hominem.

It gives them the chance to publicise their campaign. Have you ever driven through this place? Why would you oppose a proper by-pass?

this particular truck, yes. the hundreds which transit Camelford every day- and i drive one of those- should not be there. they should be on a bypass as they would be in france etc. our ends and theirs are identical, so i cant see the point in simply being insulting.
I agree with what you’re saying Harry…I’d rather have bypasses in such places…it does help us as well.
She probably has a very valid point, but she’s making herself look stupid by pointing it out because of this accident as if to say it would have prevented it.

I am not opposing a bypass, and I have seen one reply on this thread where anyone is. I am just saying that a bypass would not have prevented this accident and just makes this woman look dumb by claiming it in some way would have. A bypass would make no difference, the truck would still have been there making the delivery
Harry Monk:
this particular truck, yes.
Good you agree with everyone else on this thread then so we can all be happy

Yes, they should be on a bypass but this daft bint just opened here mouth without engaging brain so I think she is fair game. She is just like those people who shout loudly about putting the freight on the railways and when you ask how it is going to get to the shops etc from the rail head haven’t got an answer. This accident has no bearing on their campaign. If it had been one of the trucks that transit the place daily then yes it could be used to their advantage.

Yawn, ad hominem yet again.
You need to make your mind up Harry, you have already said this accident would have happened even if a bypass was in place but you are also saying the woman is right in using this to help the campaign for a bypass. How can that be?
Also it is hardly ad hominem when it is obvious to everyone, including by your own admission you, her claim that a bypass would have meant this accident wouldn’t have happened is so obviously flawed. The campaign for a bypass is a good one. Her claim is false regardless of anything else, ad hominem doesn’t apply in that case.
Sorry but I think her comment is right up there with the person who was on TV after Buncefield being all indignant and claiming it was now obvious they had been storing combustible materials in the fuel depot.
