Flip Flop wearers

our friends in Germany have been handing out fines for no shoes, clogs with the heel strap not used, and flip flops for years.

Same here in France . flip-flops, clacks or clogs (without the backs) is a big no no.

Sorry should’ve said non non !

Spain as well, watch the plod set up camp on a roundabout for about 1hour, they made a tidy profit.

One could imply that the boots that police officers wear are unsuitable for driving a car in, especially some of the high performance cars they have where the pedals are close together.

One could also imply you do talk some rubbish. Absolutely nothing wrong with their boots. Police training is far superior and far more invovled than lorry driver training by the way.
I also doubt any Traffic policeman would be arrogant enough or stupid enough to drive a heavy vehicle whilst wearing flip flops.

This special training doesn’t reach down to Sebastien Ogier, he wears racing shoes. Policemen already have big feet!

I read the article and found this:

According to the RAC there are some guidelines for what footwear is suitable when driving:

Have a sole no thicker than 10mm, but the sole should not be too thin or soft.Provide enough grip to stop your foot slipping off the pedals. Not be too heavy. Not limit ankle movement.Be narrow enough to avoid accidentally depressing two pedals at once.

I then did a quick Google and found this!

I therefore conclude that you’re full of crap.

and its taken you this long to work that out■■?
just another reinvented phoenix from the ashes of superior trampydamon…
keep up man ,for goodness sake…its not often but sometimes you have to agree with conor…

I think Jakey has this romantic notion of the Police all being upstanding ‘Dixon of Dock Green’’ type characters, so anything they say or do is fine by him.
I’d guess he’s never had a brush with the law before in his younger life, so has never had a sly quick dig in the gut or 5 knuckles in the knackers while being ‘‘Escorted in the back of the vehicle with minimal force’’ or been given a cavalier crime number if and when his gaff has been turned over, …or even nicked on the road for some trivial misdemeanour, maybe then he’d change his views if he had.

As for the thread,… Police boots that are like a cross between pit boots and Waffen SS issue are as arguably driver unsuitable as flips or clacks, used by us quote;…"arrogant and stupid’’ drivers. :unamused:

its the weekend and he get to stay up late for an extra hours fishing before having to head up the sleepy stairs to see the sandman.
always remember in fantasy land you can be whatever you want to be…

Do all you lorry drivers paint your toenails ?

Nice job darling :grimacing:

Of course it’s better training, you’re only ‘‘trained’’ to pass a test for a HGV, nobody is disputing that.
I didn’t realise they were trained to drive in unsuitable heavy boots though.
Ffs Jake, we all get it, …you’re the Police’s no 1 fan, (although I myself think ‘Message in a bottle’ was a ■■■■ fine track) but are you really an authority on the type of boots they wear? :unamused: , or is it just yet another of your unsubstantiated sweeping statements.

I can’t vouch for them now but ten years ago their footware was ideal for driving and I some how doubt they would have suddenly brought in a new shoe or boot that would affect their ability to drive.
No, I am not there no 1 fan as you put it but I have respect for the majority of them doing a job that is increasingly difficult especially when it comes to some of the brain dead drivers we see every day on our roads.

Ok then Jake, pray do tell…
What exactly makes a trucker who wears flips or clacks, in your eyes…‘‘arrogant’’ exactly?
Could it be because he does not just readily and automatically take official based opinion and rhetoric as truth, but decides to make up his own mind about things instead? by any chance,?
Going on to manage fine, thus proving that most of it is corporate style ■■■■■■■■ in fact…been here before eh?

Most traffic police wear shoes rather than boots anyway - although the modern “tactical” boots worn by many are pretty flexible and lightweight.

Yeah it’s hard work getting your feet up to waist height if you are wearing big heavy boots

years back i read a d-i-y article on how to resole your shoes using a bit of tread cut from a car tyre . i actually cut the tyre ok but was unable to get it to stick to my shoes

To be fair,90% of the British motoring public are so completely inept I doubt footwear would make much difference.

As I’ve said to you before on these matters …‘‘OPINIONS’’ :bulb:
Just because it comes from some sort of official govt body, think tank, …or some intellectual ■■■■ with letters after his name :unamused: , does not automatically mean that it is an accurate analysis of a situation.
I know you believe and regurgitate everything that is officially recorded and fed to you Jake …but not everybody does mate, they note it but make their own minds up about things, and if it suits them to ignore said opinion and advice, and do the contrary with no adverse effects, then so be it.

How many trucks has Professors Hollok, Rollok, and Bollok or whatever they’re called, driven in flip flops exactly? :unamused:
Well I’ve driven numerous ones, so by the same token I consider it satisfactorily safe …in my OPINION. :bulb:
So that’s good enough from me speaking as somebody who is as you said…‘‘stupid and arrogant.’’ for wearing clacks.

TBH I don’t really know why I am bothering to answer you.Is this a wind up? It seems as long as robroy thinks something is ok then everyone else must be is wrong.
No I don’t believe everything I am told but I am astute enough to realise how inferior footware can sometime cause serious issues when driving. (Even with so called professionals)
As for your professor nonsence, they do not need to drive a truck to work that one out. Cars have pedals as well you know.

You are reluctant to answer because you think you are always right and everybody else is wrong if they question your opinonated views.
You continue to back up your opinions by quoting yet other people’s theories and opinions, taking for granted that they are also right …and especially if they happen to come from some degree of officialdom. :bulb:

It aint a wind up you just annoy me (at forum level that is, otherwise I don’t give a ■■■■) with your pompous self righteous attitude towards everybody else on here, and you have the audacity to say that I think I’m always right  …I don’t, I just keep an open mind on things…try it sometime.

You brought up and quoted the ‘‘Professor’’ and ‘‘expert’’ nonsence which you readily believe without question…not me.

‘‘Issues’’ as you put it, can be dealt with and adapted to with no problem, unless you are dealing with some kind of inept idiot, that is why I never listen to official opinion masquerading as fact like you do.
Got to laugh at your theory that deemed ‘‘unsuitable’’ footwear for truckers is a big no no, …but on other hand the Police are fine, and excused wearing their version of unsuitable footwear to drive…as they are ‘’ highly trained’’ to do so.
