Eu referendum whats your vote

HRS:
I know we have heard most of these quotes, but this one stands out very clear to me. Harvey

And that`s why we need to get out as quickly as possible and if that means no deal well so be it. We have enough politicians over here who can ■■■■ our country up without the need for Euro MPs to be ruling our every move and deal

Last Friday I went to Dewsbury for a full load to tip at Daventry. I arrived at Dewsbury and was told by a Polish guy to back on a bay return my keys and sit in the waiting room .Once loaded the guy gave me my notes and keys and off I went to Daventry. I arrived at my delivery point and went to security where I met 4 security men all speaking broken English. I was told (I think) to go round to goods in . When I arrived I was told by an East European guy to back on a bay and return my keys and sit in the waiting area until unloaded. Whilst waiting there was a steady stream of drivers coming in and out and most were East European. Three hours later I was given my notes back by one of several East European ladies in the office and off I went to Nuneaton to load for Bradford. On arrival at Nuneaton I was greeted by a very ignorant East European who told me which bay to back on to load . Once I backed on an East European fork truck driver came over and asked me to move slightly forward , he was very polite though. Once loaded I went back up to Bradford to unload and on arrival I was greeted by another East European at the goods in section.

To be fair saying she will step down at the end of her term isn’t the same thing as saying she’ll go now and therefore obviously keeps May’s extended ‘transition’ ( delay and sabotage ) plan well on track.

I had a day driving too the week before last. It reminded me how much I hate lorry driving these days. I am quite happy toddling off to the testing station, but the full gambit actually delivering is not for me any longer. It’s not just that it was a windy day so struggling with the curtains and really struggling with the curtain poles; It is the other poles or rather the eastern Europeans I struggled with. So OK I am going a bit mutton, I’m not that bad, but trying to communicate was well nigh impossible with the surliest bunch I’ve come across. I went to one of the well known companies mentioned many times on the main forum and to another lesser known place.

Ist delivery: It had been explained that I was going to deliver to a firm which shared the premises. It is a site I use dto know well. The vehicle would be recognised on the security cameras as carrying the product required. If not I was to park in a bay and find a FLT driver. The latter was what happened except he found me. He (EE) worked for the consignee rather than the company whose site I was on, he knew that the load was for him. I asked for a bay number or whether the load was being tipped in the open yard. I understood that I was to go to ‘the office’ to ask for a loading bay number. I asked twice whether he meant his company’s office or the Goods in office of the host company. It was to be the former. He then disappeared.

The office I was told to attend was behind a security fence with id-card operated turnstiles. After 10 minutes a very polite and helpful EE who spoke good English saw that I had a problem and operated the turnstile and let me out again after making my enquiries in this office. I managed to make it understood that what I wanted and was told that this was the wrong office and I needed the host company’s goods in office . The polite, helpful and friendly EE was waiting by the turnstile and escorted me through to the correct window.

An extremely surely EE then refused to give me a bay number because it appeared that the FLT driver I had first spoken to should have sorted this himself. Thanking him impolitely for his very considerable assistance I returned to the cab, rang the company I was working for (99% English), and politely asked them to ring their customer to tell them that I would be remaining in the cab until the consignee sorted themselves out and sent someone out into the yard to advise which was the appropriate bay.

The original FLT driver encountered returned and finally managed to provide a bay number and tip the load. I collected the keys from the goods in office where lo and behold they were returned by an Englishman.

2nd load. This had to be partially reloaded since it was unsafe to travel. Another EE at the delivery - efficient and polite but not easy to understand.

Now I know that it used to be sport among the Carribeans to give new-face Whitey the run around, but that was always in jest in my experience and I have never had the slightest hindrance, difficulty or any other problem with those who I have always found to be very easy to get along with and to understand. But this EE lot are a different kettle of fish.

But this is what we are buying into with the EU.Free movement but it seems we are being over run so now i’m racist with such a suggestion. There is a shortage of drivers and i’m not suprised and as much as i detest the DCPC i dont think that is the main reason. The wages are crap the delivery and collection points are in my experience a joke with H&S gone absolutely barmy and the new breed of drivers … well enough said .I was talking to a bloke i know yesterday and he had managed to get hold of a 65 plate manual rear lift Scania but was worried that he may not be able to get a driver for it … shocking

Not good news in the budget then making it more profitable for those who choose not to work at all will get more dosh, you cant blame them its the system that is wrong, cut the money to the bare bones and I mean bare bones with no meat at all, when they aint got nothing they will find a job, trouble is they have got used to it now and there kids follow suit and don’t let any one try and tell me there going to want to change in a hurry. They need to be made to pick litter and other mundane jobs, all they need is a reflective coat and a grabber stick far cheaper than weighing them out every week and when they get fed up with that they will look for better options and then take back the jobs they could be doing from the EE.
Ramone as for the driver situation I never in a million years would have believed you would find it difficult to get drivers let alone a good one but truth to tell we have experienced that as well and for sure if you have not got top notch up to date equipment it is even harder, plus there is always the greener grass syndrome but of lately we have seen a few old hands returning and they are better suited to us. We go abroad still and they don’t like working in the UK for a lot of the reasons you said, the roads are clearer too in Europe so the job although they are away from home they on the whole are treated with respect, cheers Buzzer.

Morning “cav551”
About 4 years ago I used to go to Iceland at Livingstone 2 or 3 times a week, now I would not say they take there time to load you (its all going to there stores in Ireland) but they dont wear watches you know, all have calenders attatched to there wrists.
Canteen menu is in Polish and one day I asked the Polish head chef, who was serving if I could have Haggis and chips.
Bless his little heart he made a note and said i will have it for you next week, he did and it was fantastic, it became a favourite, even with the few Scots.
So, they can be educated if we just take the time eh !!! Harvey

Glad to see someone else has seen sense and has reversed his first decision and now wants to leave the EU, and before anyone starts I suspect there may be some in the reverse.

Your story resonates every day of my working life here in Ireland.Yesterday,4 trucks at a crossroads, myself included.I would have a good knowledge of haulage in Ireland, and 2 of the other 3 involved employ mostly EE drivers/fitters/office.The 4th would be a mixed lot,but judging by the head on the driver,he too was EE.My own company used to be 100% Irish/British,now,that too,is on the decline. So in my opinion 75% of the drivers at that particular junction, non Irish/British.
Yesterday I delivered to 4 shops,1 collection. All in a relatively well to do part of Dublin.5 people dealt with,1 Paddy,1 Brit,1 Asian,2 EE.Its the way things are here as well. However, with Britains colonial past ,will the formation of new relationships with former colonies, just make that worse?ie,instaed of EE warehouse/drivers etc.,be just replaced by Kenyan/Nigerian/Egypt etc etc etc.Not convinced that it wont.
Buzzer.
Once again your story resonates over here. However,we appear to have a major problem with mostly Nigerians and Roma who are seen as lazy and on the fiddle as much as possible. That however is not the only problem. We are turning into a handout society, with a lot of “home grown talent” as I describe them, quite able to live a good life on social welfare.Same scrotes who live in council houses and drive Porsche SUV`s (I jest you not)
(On a sidenote our recent presidential election, turned out a candidate who spoke his mind re- travellers and social welfare recipients.Spoke out as to what a lot of people are thinking. His ratings went from 2% to 23%,and was the eventual runner up,to the incumbent leprechaun. He is/was labelled racist)

BBC news this very morning is now interviewing a chap at the Newmarket race horse sales where millions change hands and this is now on the list of scaremongering tactics reference Brexit, what ever else will they come up with next. Basically as has been said so many times on here , no one really knows what will happen deal or not but lets just get on and deal with it day by day and for sure it cannot be any worse than being ruled by an unelected gravy train tossers.
On another note I did watch some of the budget as it was being announced and I thought to myself, why do we need so many personal to supposedly run our country, if I had ought to do with it there would be one representative per county and that would probably be too many, just think of the money and expenses we would save, call me old fashion but just would love for me and Bewick and maybe one or two more be given a chance to sort this land out once and for all, would be interesting to say the least, Buzzer.

If the truth was known theres an underlying feeling right across western Europe of discontentment . Just look how many foreign lorries are on our roads today. Then have a look where they are from , the majority are east European .The ones that arent probably have east Europeans driving them .More often than not two per cab ,now ask yourself how they are doing it. Its not only British drivers that are losing out ,most of western european drivers too. Obviously the wages are much less but are they subject to the same rules and regulations that we are and do they stick to them . The whole idea of the EU is allegedly to work on an even and fair playing field dealing on the main through the EU their rules their regulations . Is this happening everywhere with every country adhering to the EU . I very much doubt it, and one woman has realised that the EU has been found out for what it is and shes jumping ship before the proverbial hits the fan . She needs to take a good look at herself and admit she made some grave mistakes but that isn’t going to happen. Her actions have probably worked against her as there is big discontentment in Germany east and west . France Sweden and Italy are all seeing right wing groups gaining popularity but the politicians never blame themselves. The thing that really grinds me is that the people who use common sense are the ones who are labelled. Let`s get back to governing our own countries instead of having a load of non elected politicians milking the gravy train for what they can .

Latest news Portugal’s foreign minister Santos is preparing now to side line Michell Barnier and do its own deal with Britain as it fears as things are there economy will suffer greatly by up to 26% so is this also the feeling within other EU countries also, lets hope so as Barnier is not going to give us naff all so lets go with no deal as its best for us, Buzzer.

I think most of the EU countries who are contributing big money would opt to leave it`s the countries who are taking out that want to stay and the unelected euro MPs who are also taking out that are forcing them to stay. These are the ones who will lose the most.

ramone:

Unelected? I voted for mine, why didn’t you vote?

Well i never voted for the Kinnocks or Blairs who seem to be doing just fine on the Euro MP gravy train .

What will be the consequences if the outcome at the end of the day is not what we voted for, in other words a diluted version cooked up by Mrs May, will there be a public outcry or legal challenges made by those who voted out or will we just leave with no deal and get on with our lives. At the moment I just have a snicky feeling we are going to be sold down the river, what do you all think Buzzer
