Boris

I’m not a doctor (duhhh) but the fact it took a full week for his symptoms to worsen gives me hope that he’ll be able to pull through. Still getting admitted to ICU is worrying, I’m hoping it was an ‘overkill’ decision and that his real condition was slightly ‘not for ICU yet but let’s get him in just in case’

BBC news report that he was moved to ICU just in case he needed a ventilator so he’d be closer to one. Report also that he’s had oxygen but not needed ventilator at time of writing.

HAHAHA only believes them if he likes the story I guess…

Lot of it about

Why would they…

Possibly be making that bit of news up? It’s about as an important as to whether he’s wearing Bob the Builder pyjamas or not.

What’s important is the man gets better and continues to govern.

I certainly don’t think they have made up their report.

Its not just the BBC reporting the same, other news media have reported that he has a team of specialist doctors at his own local hospital, no special treatment, I would get the same and probably have had more than Boris.

Sixties boy:
Not sure, but the death figures seem to relate to hospital admissions and does not include deaths in care/nursing homes. If that is tue that would inflate the figures.

I’m sure that the cases figure means ‘all’ known cases. It doesn’t matter where the deaths occurred the death figure is 10% of known cases not 10% of hospital admissions.

God no! If the Beeb told me it was sunny I’d pack my raincoat. I appreciate your desperation to cling to something to rationalise a crazy world and I understand that. Perhaps that’s why you elevate organisations such as the WHO and others to a Godlike status. It’s an understandable human reaction to WANT to believe in what “the man” tells you. Surely they’re working for my best interests right?

to be honest I always find ch4 news the most gritty and forthwright reporting… worth a watch…

"3 March (release of coronavirus action plan)

“I’m shaking hands continuously. I was at a hospital the other night where I think there were actually a few coronavirus patients and I shook hands with everybody, you’ll be pleased to know. I continue to shake hands.

“We already have a fantastic NHS, fantastic testing systems and fantastic surveillance of the spread of the disease … I want to stress that for the vast majority of the people of this country, we should be going about our business as usual.”

Yes that was probably before they went running away in a blind panic from the idea of herd immunity.Because they probably saw something in the recovery figures, or even the definition of ‘recovery’, which doesn’t add up to it.

C4 - are a good watch - as long as it’s not about anything “political”… :stuck_out_tongue:

What a peculiar post.
Why do you think I have elevated the WHO or what/who/ever to a “god like status”?
.
I accept we don’t live in a predictable or rational world, and have said as much before.
.
Is the WHO there for our collective good?
I reckon, yes, It probably is. That doesn’t make it infallible though.
.
If you think of the WHO as “The Man”, you’re saying more about your beliefs than mine.
.
And returning to who we put confidence in:
As a rule I would believe a BBC news cast, that had been through several subs and editors, and been viewed by lawyers, before I believed a random social media post.
That Does Not mean that I reject all such posts out of hand. There is good information everywhere, but given I can’t check on everything personally, I do lean towards BBC, Channel 4, CNN, and some other news outlets, before faceache etc.
.
In previous posts I’ve suggested that anyone should go to WHO & NHS websites for info. I stand by that, and make no apologies at all for that. Doesn’t mean I worship them.

The whole idea is that you read the political stuff - whilst you’re otherwise not having a good time… :stuck_out_tongue:

His job as PM was challenging enough before COVID19: trying to “Get Brexit Done” as well as justifying himself to all the voters who “lent him their votes”.
Then this happens. Who’d want his job?

I don’t particularly like or dislike him one way or the other, but I do agree with everyone else who wishes him a speed recovery.

Pause for thought: imagine the internet & COVID were around in the early 80’s when Thatcher was in charge…
