New Truck Prices

New Truck PricesJust wondered if anyone else on here is being badgered by the dealers at the moment with cut price offers.
Had a demo in a new model 6x2 Magnum 500dxi a couple of months back £83K the price now £64K with leather upgrade free (not that that bothers me). Too rich for me at the moment was my reply so they are back on today with free servicing packages for 24 months. A little birdie tells me the Premium is selling at cost at the moment, if your in the market PM me and I will put you onto the dealer as its not fair to publish their details on here. Always a pleasyre never a chore!!!
Re: New Truck Prices
I was told, I got get a new Scania, 'off the shelf' if I wanted last night, but I think I'll keep my little DAF a while longer. Signatures are so Passe
oh what a difference 12 months can make.
sods law though........... when theres plenty off work and the goings good you have to wait 18 months for a new truck at top dollar.......... then....... theres hardly any work about and you can have a decent price on a new truck almost immediately. between a rock and a hard place or what!!
Re: New Truck Prices
I've got some quotes to replace my 6 wheeler - like you say Renault seem very competitively priced ![]()

come on guys what sort of prices have you been quoted dont say the dealers name but be interesting to know ?
also renault are all volvo engine and gearbox now arent they? renault have got a lot better over the years. john
450 6x2 Premium £51k
7.5t Daf 45 £27k for chassis / £28k with 20' curtain body! MAN TGX 26.440 XLX £58k New 13.6m tri curtains £15.5 k Prices are falling & they'll get cheaper!!
I like MAN trucks but how can they justify £7K more than Renault for what is pretty much identical spec.
Dennis,
you can beat that £47K for a 450 auto 7K to extend the chassis and add the coupling (by Renault). I know of 12 units sat in a field cancelled order that they will bite your right arm off for, will probably do better than that. Nice truck the 450 dxi and still a light unit as you know compared with the competition extra payload or bling I know where my requirements sit. Always a pleasyre never a chore!!!
got a stretched unit now - would prefer a factory built rigid this time got a test drive on Sat ![]()
Denis,
I'll give my guy a ring tomorrow, it can't hurt. 6x2 drawbar 450 dxi Let you know the outcome Always a pleasyre never a chore!!!
Your a fool if you don't get the premium. You could have the body on and road legal and still be cheaper than the others. I'm surprised the Daf is dearer than the FM I haven't been in an Actros for 5 years but even though Carlsberg might be the best lager in the world. I dont drink lager

You can't go too far wrong with Renault at those prices can you. Head and shoulders above their no frills stablemate Iveco on reliability as well i'd wager.
You can maybe justify the premium brands if you are driving your purchase and are away all week but if it isn't your home away from home every night then i'd economise and buy a porsche for the weekends instead! Whatever you decide Dennis just don't get a stralis.
I echo the above DONT GET A STRALIS ive still got one on a 53 plate spent a hell of a lot of money on it, still got it cant afford to get rid of it.
having said that if trade continues as it is its going up for sell after xmas. just cant find the work for it at mo john
New truckRenault Magnum, 500, 6 x 2, multi pass cab, £60500 with 2 years warranty plus 3rd year drive line, mine is on road first week in Jan 09
Got rid of my 52 reg 480 Magnum 2 months ago as was always to heavy loading from Holland & Belgium, got a topline Scania 420, 6 x 2, bad back has returned, forgot how bad Scania was, bed set up is crap. Cant wait to be able to walk from seat and flop in bed.
Re: New Truck Pricescan you belive all i'm waiting for is a px value on my 2yr old magnum 480dxi (from same dealer),been waiting 2 weeks now!he tells me "only got 55plates in my book will let u know" but alas......got price on the new one same day i enquired!which was 68.5k which i thought was ok.. New truckForgot to add, old Magnum was a 4 x 2.
Quality is what you pay for!. Renault and iveco are three year motors after that they are like a tin of nails and worth nothing. As soon as you buy a renault or an iveco you will never have nothing else as you wont be able to afford to go up market. I know i will get .....renault is now owned by volvo but at end of day its still a renault
quite right my friend....volvo engine/gearbox (as good as) and volvo chassis......but loads cheaper, does one shell out a further £20k+ for scania/volvo to do the same job?could only justify doig that if i was keep that perticular motor for say 6yrs+,which would do my annual tax liability no good also all the repair bills that go with "any" yes "any" motor after the a few years,so may as well buy new every few years, take your r&m along the way with the deal.......ok,you guessed i got magnum, but i intend to keep updating......no costly bills as yet!
Fair play to you mate just my opinion. I renew my motor every 5 years its either volvo/scania/merc. Depends on best deal i can get at time Im not a one make man. Im in a position now i can pay most of the motor when i buy it and leave a few years on HP. Plus i never take R&M on a motor it will save you 2-4k on the new price
New truckKeep on at deajer, got 2 quotes, Reading and Avonmouth, both aroung £60k.
Have had 4 Magnums over past 4-5 years, all still going strong with no major problems, oldest is a W reg, sold to a welsh hauliers, still tramping on. Had Scania most of my 28 years in business, over priced, crap cab design. Truck Driving (Its a way of life)
Re: New Truck Prices
Quoted this week. Magnum 500Dxi 6x2 Excellence Trim = £61500 Premium 450Dxi, Privilege Trim, Optidriver + Optibrake = £52000 Premium as above but ZF MANUAL gearbox = £48000 = Seems like a cheap truck! 4.6m C/Siders new @ £15600 Can we hope these prices may sharpen even more??
Re: New Truck Prices
I know mine was a 54 plate old shape one, but if they haven't changed the gearbox be very wary of it. I got a 4 year full R&M with mine for less than a hundred quid a week, hardly needed it in it's 1st 2 years, but I know the gearbox has been a PIA in it's 2nd 2 It's still been a bloody good truck though, so don't let me put you off Signatures are so Passe
Hi Renaultman
You wrote, "I know mine was a 54 plate old shape one, but if they haven't changed the gearbox be very wary of it. I run an 03, 440 Magnum with 1.1 million K's on her. I was assuming the ZF 16 spd in the Premium would be the same box as my Magnum currently has, which has been faultless.
You guys running 6+2 Magnums. Whats the Weight of the units solo? I'm running an old Merc Megaspace V8 & need to change soon. She's a heavy truck & need to loose a bit of weight. At the money your quoting it's worth a look. Are they offering R & M packages too?
I was in Baghdad when you was in your dad's bag.!!!
