Another one gone.Heard on the grapevine that a haulage company based in South Lanarkshire has gone to the wall.
50 Drivers paid off today. British Jobs for British Workers.
Sandy McCracken is in provisional liquidation – confirmed by the company.
Commercial motor is trying to get hold of the administrators to get more info... will post more info when I get it. Thanks to the members who originally posted this and the Amtrak thread for being patient and understanding why the threads were removed over the weekend until I could get confirmation of the rumours
Thanks to Roanna Avison at RBI for chasing this up...
..
I just called the administrator's for McLellan's Transport and they put me through to someone who's dealing with MacFarlane Transport by mistake. Is that mean, that they are busted as well?
Job in Glasgow secured!!
...but you can still see my webpage if you want to: http://www.driver.mixol.org
McLellans were bought from the reciever by H W Coates Story HERE Macfarlanes collapse is well documented on here and on Roadtransport.com
This sentence brigs me a good laugh: "McLellan's was a good operating business, unfortunately some decisions and circumstances turned it around the other way." All my friends, both Polish and Scottish, don't wanted me to belive, when I was talking to them about my work for them. They told me "it's impossible for company working like that to survive". Obviously, they were right But there is another, very good news for me: "We believe we can turn it back around". That's good news for me - maybe I will be able to get my money back, when they will recover... Job in Glasgow secured!!

not soon enough - rates will rise then
I wish. Can't help thinking the plague of Agencies sprouting up with their damn consultancies poking their oar in, are doing a fine job of ruining many chances of real jobs. DAF or FH & UK / EU Tramping job, or similar, wanted
Gis a job. Ban all agencies. ![]()
if the employers offered a realistic wage then the agencies wouldnt have so much work. the jobs i have been offered are paying £19k which is 5 less than i will accept. thats the only reason i am still on the agencies books. if all goes well i will not be in my current situation come the end of the year. i intend to get full time work but not in the transport industry
I applaud and agree the sentiment JJ but fear that there is an element of wishful thinking there. I have seen it all before. Salut, David.
The BondiTram is back!!
I'm just gonna sit tight, and if Stobart comes knocking, i'll send him packing!!
Seriously thou, i find the whole Stobart empire very worrying. You can only hope they get a bite of the r's too.
i am sceptical too. my minimum wage is £9 per hour (or would be if i worked days). what do stobbies pay?
Sad sight on the M8 on thursday.
[img][/img] A handfull of McCracken trucks on trade plates heading for a compound somewhere . It does'nt really matter what you're views are about how the work and wages will pan out. It's always sad when a long established haulage company closes it's doors, putting several probably long serving drivers on the dole.
yeah well at the end of the day i'm a realist, so not holding my breath t.b.h
It's always really sad when a Company 'folds', but why did it happen? Couldn't something have been done to stop it happening, a buy out perhaps.
"Will the Drivers really end up on the 'dole'? What happened to the driver shortage? Steve.
that must be some compound..full of ramage, mcfarlanes, etc trucks..maybe an airfield like long marston will be in order soon.
fire up the quattro!

If the hauliers got the proper rate things would be different, there are too many making money of the haulier, even the manufacturers, everybody sticks a bit onto the haulage for extra profit, or the agents take more than they are entitled to because they are no laws to stop it !! In some cases its unlicenced robbery with no laws or protection like the clearance houses
Buy cheap - buy twice
I would imagine all those Mccracken motors will be going to Wentworth Park to be destickered and washed off to be seen on a local MB forecourt as Approved Used Commercials Great Britain 51: Scott Nicholls 14, Lee Richardson 10, Tai Woffinden 7, Simon Stead 7, Chris Harris 13.
logically speaking the work will still be there so the drivers will get jobs although possibly not what they were doing before. if they are in the central belt they will never run short of trolley work. morrisons, tesco, aldi, etc are all on the M8 corridor and even asda isnt that far away in falkirk. co op have bought somerfields so that adds 2 more depots to their existing sites in harthill and cumbernauld. one is dunfermline and the other is east kilbride. plus there are the other hauliers like shetland transport, DHL etc etc etc. there are countless driving opportunities between M8 j3 and j9 so they wont end up on the dole
subjectnice to see 77 sticks to his guns il never work for tescos.
as for the somerfield takeover 120 shops have to be sold, and of course the coop will keep a depot in harthill, dunfermline and east kilbride that makes perfect financial sense. oops i forgot cumbernauld yup theyll still be up an running in 12 months time. when anyone with a bit common senses they just might say takeover the old tesco site. as for the vacancies up here its all agencey work . there is a marked decrease in fulltime .and the jobs that are there are wages DEPENDS ON EXPERIENCE as for any drivers that have had there wagon taken off them by a suit and told they aint got a job ,as the driver is the last to know hope you get your money and goodluck a sniper scope is life
Re: subject
it took them 18 months and they had to get a former employee of tesco to talk me into going in there. just as well really since i was restricted with travelling and i only did a few shifts from pitreavie before refusing to go back there
Re: subject
you were shafted by them (tescos) and now youre there bitch you must be getting old bud the fire is dying a sniper scope is life
not really. my reasons for refusing to work for them were related to another site and i left last june. i hung on for 9 months or so and thought why not? decent money, decent shifts (sometimes) and the work is available when i want to work (nights and weekends) so it made sense.
i certainly havent lost my fire. im merely concentrating it on a bigger and more worthwhile cause
youve lost your spark son need regular income a sniper scope is life
