I'm more interested in the motor under the bonnet!
The 1 I drove many moons ago went like [zb] off a shovel, was very comfortable and had a cracking bed and cab for it's day! I may not agree with what you say, but I will die fighting for your right to say it?
I think the subject of horn polishing belongs in a different, currently 5 page long, thread on here.
along with the 1418 merc and berliet.
they were walk across cabs. great truck. not a bit of ford in them. cummins engine/rockwell axle/zf box. pity they took them off the market, with todays tech they would have been right there with the scania and others.
Greg, dont forget the old little cabbed MANs, with their 360 motor they could see most things off the roads - including any 330 Scanies!

Yer know what they should've done. A Ford Transcon with a twin splitter
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but round these parts I find a bacon sandwich or a leg of pork helps
It is Have Not Of! or Of not Off!
transconMalcolm, make sure he puts in a Big Cam Cummins, and a twin splitter.
when its finished, give us a bell, and i`ll be there as its new driver..9some hope)...got tears in me eyes already.. one of the old school...whats a test ??
In the haulage industry since 1963
Never had the pleasure of matching the come-apart with a twnsplit, buit I drove a GMC with a 300hp big-cam cummins and an 18 speed eaton-fuller roadranger. And I LOVED IT!!
Gis a job?
Specialist idiot!
Re: my new truck arrived my boss must have too much money
that looks like it's a six wheeler .... i had the pleasure of driving a transcon twice , i was only 21 and green as grass , truth be known it was to much for me at that time and i found it scary they were rare then , and i count myself lucky to have driven it... brakes ??? what brakes ??
Electrics were a nightmare too, endless trouble.
and wheel studs kept snapping
Oh yess one night had a sparky wire lights direct to the battery, via a switch taped to the dash to keep me going, never had the studs go though.
as an up date on the ford my boss has owned up to not owning it but only storing it
it belongs to stuart durant an OD who parks in the yard at weekends and i think hes bite off more than he can chew not touched it since april when it arrived in the warehouse theres an un-kissed frog in every garden pond
