I’m quite lucky really, i’m a very flexible driver who can turn his hand to anything. Here i am doing furniture delivery for Harveys out of Warrington.
All the couches are off now and we only have a few beds and coffee tables on, not sure how much longer if at all i can do couches anymore though. I don’t have one of them ‘must do at all costs’ attitude and if they’re too heavy they can stay on, i aint trying to impress anyone, especially myself.
Next, a bit of shunting in the Jaguar plant at Halewood for NYK. The most mind numbing job i’ve ever done. About for runs back and forward at about 300 yards each trip into this shed.
Tight bay hey? Spare a thought for the left hookers.
Next i’m on for Geo Logistics, Part of the CEL group and probably best known as Carters! More tight bays at Pilkingtons glass in St. Helens
I know St. Helens like the back of my hand and a short cut on the country lanes results in, ‘thanks Mike, we’ll contact you when we need you again’ !!
When i can i like to pop into Lymm Serveices. Now i hate clampers but sometimes i just think some guys really do deserve to be clamped. Plenty of spaces and they do this
And more follow
Anyway, got meself a new job and my own truck.
Looks like something from ‘Mad Max’? But its no ordinary Daf XF. Its 100% eco friendly.
On board fridge uses no power whatsoever;
On board waste water/toilet facilities, designed it myself, patent pending. The Wii bottle;
And full can/polythene/paper recycling compartments under the bunk;
As super smiley says, i’m a rufty tufty truck driver and there is no fancy bling and stuff in my motor. My night out gear is a wool blanket, a few cans of larger in the top lockers and a nudie book. And i’m getting about all over the country again.
Freightliner at Garston;
Rule 3 says stay in vehicle cab and rule 7 says beware of mobile cranes, but when you get in there they tell you to drive to the crane, get out, go over to the crane and shout up to it? Go figure?!!
Going over the bridge at Dartford
I love London. But where i come from we have signs to say keep off the grass, (maybe they mean weed?) and in Feltham they actualluy have permits to park on it.
Here i’m at the quayside at Felixstowe watching container ships and containers
Strange place is Felixstowe. You need a pass to get in. So some copper on the desk gives me one, he never met me before and he tells me its an ‘anti terrorist measure’
He then gives me a map of the place
Showing where the explosives and radioactive stuff are !!!
As i’m doing containers most of my time is spent around poxy container yards, they are like junk yards and dangerous too.
A 20 year old shunter
These yards are a nightmare to get around, no signs, small gaps, containers stacked to high and i’m sick of complaining no one takes any notice.
“Pull round the corner drive”, “ok, will do”
Caught one, just with the edge of my skelly!
Once a stack starts wobbling they just don’t stop. I’ve got a few days off now, they’re gonna ring me when they want me back in. Anyway, happy xmas to all and keep your eye out for me on the road you never know what i’ll be in !!!
See ya!
