your driving in your silly hi viz was to behold if i had filmed it would have to go on you tube yes your this weeks pratt driver ps if you read this well done for getting back i 1 piece theres an un-kissed frog in every garden pond
No offence but your post isn't that interesting unless you happen to be the driver of the Daf...or you.
Give us an idea of what happened that wound you up so much? "I hate traffic. Gas, brake, honk! Gas, brake, honk! Gas, CRASH, honk! Honk, Honk, Honk!" (Homer Simpson)
I'll be a pratt every day then, because our company uniform is hi-viz polo shirt,
hi-viz sweat shirt and hi-viz jacket, all logo'd. Luckily, none reflect in the windscreen. Yes, I know it is over the top to some, but I find it convenient not having to don a vest at almost every tip. I keep a t-shirt with me if I really want to go undercover. You should elaborate on his bad driving, coz that is the real issue. 206permanentpratt. Generally, it is your choice; will your life serve as an example......or a warning?
Ok, now some of you are really pissing me off, if you do sixty drops a day, are you supposed to take your hi vis off every time you get in and out of the cab. The problem is with you [zb] who moan about people wearing hi vis is that you are too thick to dress yourselves and probably get your mums to dress you every day.
oooh errrr calm down lad. It aint hard to take it off man.I do everytime I get in me cab.you are obviously too thick to take it off. have you had it sown to your jumper ?or are you just [zb] lazy? I can obviously dress myself as I have the ability to remove and redress in the said garment,it is probably you sir who cant dress yourself The Future is KNOWSLEY.......(apparently)
Hi vizWhat exactly is the problem with wearing a hi viz whilst driving???
If you work for a company that insists you wear one at EVERY tip and ALL of our own sites then thats a large part of my day. I usually find i just forget to remove it and by the time i remember i'm at the next drop anyway? Was thinking that maybe those who object drive for cowboy outfits who couldn't care less for their drivers safety in the first place!

Last week on the A1 Near Bradbury Interchange a Polish Car Driver Ran into a Truck, the Truck Driver Got out to Warn Other Motorists and was seriously Injured when struck by a car, Had he still worn his Hi Vis whilst being in the Cab he just may of been seen getting out of the cab in an Emergency and avoided Spending Xmas in Hospital (If he survived)
Jeeezus I cannot understand what the bloody fuss is about when it comes to High Vis being worn in the Cab, does it make you a better or worse driver? Does it restrict your ability to turn the steering wheel or change gear or operate the pedals accordingly etc?
hi vizthings are sad when you fall out over dress codewere all supposed to be profesional drivers here arn't we............................
moaning about hi viz vests it could be worse you could be forced to wear the bright orange hi viz jackets and vests with loads of reflective bits on plus the trousers like I have to at network rail, and they dont even let you on the site with out wearing your hardhat in the cab
got my eyes on the road and my back to the load
this whole HARD HAT thing bugs me. so you are on a site with lots of overhead steel.WTF is a hard hat going to do to help if a lump steel falls on ya head??????????????????????
I put my hi-vis on when I get to work and leave it on, so whats the big deal? who cares? I'm a truck driver not a fashion icon.
But then again, I think people who wear baseball hats, especially backwards or side ways are Pratt's. Or rigger boots. Or trousers that stop halfway up your calf. Or shave their heads. Or, and I have seen this, all four at once. One mans meat.......................
dress codesi agree with blobby1 on this one we were supposed to wear hard hats in the docks, in the hope that a falling container would just bounce off it!!!!!!!
Re: Hi viz
The same problem that most of the folks who wear a hi-viz in bed also couple trailers up and lay on the fifth wheel while doing it. Then they jump into a cab or worse still a train seat leaving black grease everywhere. My cowboy outfit has over 3000 trucks and I havent seen them with grease all over the seats An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but round these parts I find a bacon sandwich or a leg of pork helps
It is Have Not Of! or Of not Off!
This is something that has been bugging me for ages.....i just can't understand the logic of why anyone would want to travel around looking like a glow torch stick..And if you ask someone.......it's amazing how quick they get the hump...
The fact of matter is..that Hi Vis jackets just look stupid......outside areas that require them to be worn for visual safety reasons.....And as "Wheelnut" has pointed out..... get dirty so easy........then you rubbing up against the what should be a clean seat .......or bunk...(dirty [zb]) It's like when you see.......those festive homes that you can't see the bricks.....due to the number of festive bulbs covering the wall..........and inflatable Santa.........it just doesn't look right....... it's tacky......classless...shows no standards..there is no need for it........ If your doing multi-drop in a small area........hence your in and out every 5-10mins......then ok........but any longer than that.........off it comes!!!........ I've seen drivers whom i know are going on a long distance run (or a good few miles down the road)......who just keep them on..........It takes naff all time to put one on........and half the time to yank it off....... His Vis jackets are about as naff as a shell suit......or crocodile safety boots.. Anyone got a dot or two they could lend us?????
I don't understand those drivers who keep it on during a 3 hour plus ferry crossing but they do, I've seen three this week alone. The only advantage I can see is it gives the rest of us a warning they may be a nutter and we can try to avoid them in the restaurant.
I wear mine virtually all the time at work when it is cold - its SO cuddly & warm
The nutters are easy to spot, they always have a tin of corned beef in their shopping bag An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but round these parts I find a bacon sandwich or a leg of pork helps
It is Have Not Of! or Of not Off!
i wear my hi viz vest nr enough all the time
I used to work in a steel yard and got a hefty bang on my hard hat by a swinging 3 tonne bundle of steel, had I not been wearing my hard hat I would not be here replying to your post you work it out H&S why do people hate it so much
we were told to wear our hi-viz in the yard at night till we pointed out it made us targets for snipers from across the perimeter
tell you what i got the red book and the blue book which shall i use.
You've met me then
