Work ideas

My class C test was postponed two days before I was due to take it and obviously no idea when it might be rescheduled.

I have a full clean manual licence since 1986, got my CPC and tacho-card so can drive up to 7.5t.

Any suggestions where I can look for work as I don’t want to go down the Amazon/courier/supermarket delivery route?

It’s not 7.5t but how about supermarket home delivery ?

Smaller food companies. A couple of local companies that do just frozen foods use 7.5 Tonners for cash and carry type jobs

Smaller Dairies might run 7.5 Tonners for deliveries, Smaller bakeries might too? Warburtons and Kingsmill run 12 tonners from memory

DX, Royal Mail and UPS use 7.5 Tonners.

Maybe scaffolding or tree surgeon type companies, but those probably wont be running with the lockdown in place.

Maybe smaller fruit and veg whole salers/markets might run 7.5 tonners.

If you’re not set on using the 7.5 Tonne licence and happy in a 3.5T van, Lots of companies will start offering home delivery to survive. So garden centres and Nurseries, DIY/Hardware stores, Currys and Electricals. Even Halfords and Euro Car Parts might need more drivers, plus your local white goods sellers that might still take orders over the phone.

Smaller butchers and green grocers. Even Farm shops and Pharmacies will have to step up home deliveries now.

Van rental companies might start needing more drivers?
Vehicle Breakdown/Recovery ?

If you have D1 on your licence, perhaps look into NHS patient transport service - Obviously there is a health risk working in and around hospitals that not everyone is comfortable with.

If you prefer to use your own car, perhaps consider food delivery, such as Dominos Pizza, Pizza Hut etc ? Dominos pay their drivers £10 an hour plus tips round my way (They also include vehicle insurance), which is more than some Class 2 jobs. Just one example for anyone who doesn’t believe that rate: indeed.co.uk/viewjob?jk=f0d … serp&vjs=3
