Under construction…
HOGRA of Ravenstein made trucks between 1954 and 1959 with merely Perkins- or Steyr-diesel-engines.
Not many were made but the factory gained soon a good reputation. Here we start with some pictures.
HOGRA is an abbrevation of Mr. HOek and Mrs. GRAvelaar (previously married with Mr. Jurgens of
the wellknown Blue-Band margarine) and in 1954 they formed N.V. Hogra Automobielfabriek in an
old milk-factory in Ravenstein, Holland.
Engines from Perkins (6-cylinders) as well as (Austrian) Steyr were installed.
Impression of the 1956 Brussels exposition where 3 vehicles were presented! The cabbed version
was sold to a milk-factory in Leefdal (Belgium) and all of the exhibitioned vehicles had Perkins!
Hogra also exported to Germany and even Argentinia! And that for a small Dutch company!
A picture of a Hogra-chassis, intended and sold as truck-chaqssis, eventually ‘ended’ as bus-chassis.
The majority of the cabs were installed/produced by BUCA (BUchten CArrosserie) of Buchten near Born
or by Van Eck of Lexmond or by Paul-Van Weelde of Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel. Often NETAM (later in co-
operation with US Fruehauf) of Rotterdam supplied the tipper-installation.

Have you seen this site?
conam.info/carrosseriebouwer … riebouwers
It gives a brief story of most of the Dutch coachbuilders, but I reckon more detail will come out on TNUK!
@Anorak…thank you and I am familiar with the Conam-listing, a dedicated group of volunteers
collecting and writing history…but it is a heap of companies…BeGe known for (Scania) cabs,
Berkhof, Bova, Hainje, Den Oudsten, Smit and Verheul for coaches, Beijnes and Werkspoor for
rail-equipment, Buca for tippers, Geesink for garbage, Heiwo and Lamboo for temperature-
controlled bodywork and so on, but I don’t want to claim that only participants to TNUK know
everything…

True, but these discussions have a habit of unearthing stuff which has not been printed in books or more formal websites. Someone says something, someone asks something about it, someone else asks someone else, sometimes everyone learns something new.

I fully agree! One thing leads to another and so on.
What is currently in your TOP-3 to know or experience
on marques, technical stuff or…?
Nice day, A-J

This is my Top One old lorry interest at the moment, hence my interest in Dutch/Benelux coachbuilders:

Hey ERF, never known that they have been sold in Belgium, so think that Verheul and Kromhout tried it too.
As I said there were two Kromhout’s here, never seen more.
And as I know so far Miesse tried Holland too ■■?
Bye Eric,
A very special field of expertise…I should enquire and search for more, but don’t get confused
with people stating they know all about the “Dutch”-Scania. I suggest you email/write to Scania
in Holland (ask for Stef Ooms and give him my regards!) he works in Opglabbeek (B) and previous
in the HQ at Breda (Nl), cheers.
Eric, the messages crossed…to be honest, I don’t know about Miesse in Holland, but I think Mandator (Fernand)
could highlight more on that. Minerva was very important in Holland, both cars and lorries though.
Gerlof did like your Vanneste-Deraedt Mack for Schmidt!
During an exhibition/sale I overheard there will be a book on Hogra…I am curious!
Time to bump this thread a bit, just found a Hogra on the net, body by Mostert
During some files-cleaning I found this Hogra which I believe not being
posted yet, BUCA from Buchten was responsible for the bodywork.
Wobbe Reitsma wrote a book (128 pages, numerous photographs not earlier published) on Hogra trucks.
Unfortunately only in Dutch language, about 35,00 euros for foreign customers, publishers: ‘De Alk’

Anyone interested in Hogra would be advised to look at this. Wobbe Reitsma’s books are generally very thoroughly researched and well produced.
