Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
I think they can do as they please. I was sacked for having a back injury as the company nurse decided I wasn't up to the work they expected, although my own GP and consultant had given me the all clear to return to work. Deaitchell... Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
Sorry mate, but that is a cop out as all that will happen is that at the mention of issues, people will just be directed to that site. People with Mental health issues being told to go a read a web site is just not good enough. People need to see a doctor and the doctors need to come off their high horse and start to give an impression that they actually care. It's about time the public in this country took the doctors to task The GP's think they are bloody Gods and, I can assure you of this, many don't particularly give a toss about the patients, most went into the trade for it's returns. Night care is useless and in some area, one emergency ambulance on nights for an absolutely massive area. Have you all not noticed that the first thing people of money do? They don't use or rely on the NHS. Look at any executive job and they all include full BUPA or similar for the entire family.
Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
Sorry but will have to disagree to some extent on this as when I 1s went to my Dr nearly 4 yrs ago he was very supportive & gave me all the help & advice I needed even told me where to go to receive help I needed I also looked for myself to get some of the help I wanted & needed so ended up with a very god support team I did go back to work but due to other things ( May not is the thread ) I am now back on the sick but not that depressed atm due to things I did learn to help cope with it all
Ask your Dr to send you to Pain Management for some help with the pain in your neck my Dr did & it has worked I now take a variety of drugs but it does help a lot also had injections in my neck for this ( there are several threads in here about it ) If it looks to good to be true it probably is
Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........You are very lucky to have a Dr that gives a toss. Most don't and this is from someone very closely involved with the medical profession.
Most 'new' doctors at a surgery become the most popular in a very short time, until they get a verbal for spending too much time with the patients, off the partners.
Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
Yes I am very lucky but he has been my Dr for nearly 20 yrs & up until 4 yrs ago I had hardly seen him so he could be a bit "old school " poss in his mud 40's & like me he thinks prevention is better than cure but he is also a partner within so it does help it is also a small practice If it looks to good to be true it probably is

Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
A complete and painful record. I find it much easier to write things down as there is so much going on with medical people I get confused, my list of drugs is as long but slightly different due to kidney problems. Thanks Ange. The stress depression panic anxiety thing is really difficult for me to describe and diagnose which one is worse. Good luck for now until August. Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
It was difficult to write this but I must credit Pat ( from PDA ) after I had sent her a lot of the info she put it into a readable order as most has been documented on here in a variety of threads But it can be very difficult to differ from stress, anxiety, depression, panic attacks as they are really all rolled into 1 I found it quite therapeutic to write it all down although very hard at times but if someone started a topic in here I found it easier to answer it If it looks to good to be true it probably is
Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
I hope you don't mind this on this forum but you mentioned you changed the antidepressants yet in your list you have Amitrip, don't those make you sleep too much? I wondered what you had changed away from Married to Helen, the woman in & out of my life for the last 29 years. Its been a labour of love!
Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........Think most in this post
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=53899 But I take a very small dosage of Amitriptiline ( started with 10 mg have now gone up to 20 mg ) only take at night as my consultant knew I was a driver was reluctant to increase the dosage If it looks to good to be true it probably is

Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
Now that I am retired from driving (here in the USA) suddenly I can get all the drugs prescribed that I need, but I have to pay for most of them. After I retired my wife lost her job and I have to pay for hers, too. No more dental care without a job here, also. I should have moved back to the "old country" when I was younger and had the chance. Anyway, you fellow drivers across the pond: no more bitching about your nanny state. Take it from someone who knows. -- Mo'hammer "Humanism with Attitude!"
Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........I reckon I've got a problem with stress and depression at the moment but for the most part it has brought me out as being emotional with using alcohol to calm things down. Although I only have the brandy in the evenings
![]() ![]() Good days and bad days ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Read the stuff on the PDA site. Interesting information, but I [zb] up the option of joining the PDA years ago. So here I am, getting back into transport and living life on an edge... Course, after a double brandy I'm probably note safe to be on the internet so I'd best stay away from those selling and auction sites then ![]() I'm not getting any pains or complications like that but more of unstable and emotional. Not sure what else to do to handle it... Oh, and I'm doing my learning for the theory for my cat C. That'll be the stress then ![]() Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant!

Sorry Rob! I agree with a lot of your posts and discussions. Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........
We have lots of unfair laws to get used to here, and a court system which favors the rich. Actually more citizens in jail than China. (The actual number and not that "per 100 k" thing). You guys are in an island paradise, and when you ferry over to Europe you still get paid by the hour. I write (on the side) a monthly column for Trucker's Connection Magazine titled "Don't Ask Us!" about team OTR trucking (Mo'hammer and Cheater) but the magazine will not allow us to print anything derogatory about getting paid by the mile in the USA. Good luck for any of you who want to try driving artics over here. It's a 3rd world all in itself, and yah, we pack guns but therefore can bed down in the sleeper at night without fear. The one good thing. -- Mo'hammer "Humanism with Attitude!"

Re: Depressed
It must be easier to get on the dole over in the UK than here in Frontier Land USA. My old lady, who was a hospital nurse with a perfect record for thirty years got disabled 2 years ago and still has not collected a *penny, plus she has no health or dental insurance. (You guys still have pennies? Ours are not worth the substitute copper they are printed on). I do not understand the Ami working class, which is against raising taxes so we can have government health insurance. Everybody's health is a roll of the dice. Some are born lucky and some are born prone to disease. One would think that the lucky ones would be happy enough with their good fortune to be willing to help those with bad luck. National health insurance is simply everyone pooling money together to that those who get a bad card have some support. I could go on (rant rant)... ![]() -- Mo'hammer "Humanism with Attitude!"
DepressedNo wonder people r cracking up the attitude from some people when it comes to there mental and physical health

Re: depression, anxiety, stress ect...........Hi I'm new to this so bear with me. I've read through the posts & there's a bit of a theme. Men & women deal with health problems differently. Women (in my opinion) are more open about having a problem & will turn to others, men keep more to themselves. It does not help that drs can only give you a 5min appt (10mins if you book a double) & you have to take a day off work & another if you need to have tests, a bit difficult if your a tramper. If you do have some form of mental health problem tablets do not work in all cases, counselling unless private, has very high waiting lists & what driver can attend an appointment every week for say, 12wks. With the long hours when do drivers get to wind down, exercise. Someone who is suffering from depression & sits in a cab all week does not need to be told "pull yourself together" or any other type of derogatory remark, they need to find the cause & how to change the effect it's having. Sadly, for some people their situation cannot be changed & life becomes about learning to cope.
