ITALYR SLICKER
saw your kind offer of help. i will be going to Trieste in November, i am o.k. with belgium vignette and german maut but would be very grateful for any further information you can supply as to best routes and toll systems / charges. thanks Keith. keith
kieth which way do you wish to go over the BRENNER or through the BLANC or do you wish to use the train from FREIBURG -to NOVERA;
1; If you go over the brenner you will have the following points DO YOU HAVE A GO-BOX for AUSTRIA if not you will have to get thisat the border and you will have to ensure that the credit in the box is good for the amount of road that you will use ,and then we have the maut for the brenner use by the way if you have a euro engine tell them at the booth as this makes it a little cheaper, 2.the AUSTRIANS have lorry check points which are well used so ensure that you are legal through out and not over weight as they have weighbridges at the check points and no they are not all on the borders. 3.when going downthe ITALIAN SIDE keep to the speed limits and obey the NO-OVERTAKEING as they are quite often waiting at the tollbooths as well 4,Fill up in AUSTRIA IF YOU REQUIRE to fuel up as ITALY ISexpensiver as Austria, Germany, 5, Fill up in Luxemberg before entering Germany 6.do not forget your SNOWCHAINS as you will by asked for them when checked by the AUSTRIAN enforcement officers, they are required in NOVEMBER by law. 7. your trailer is 4.00m high then you can use the train and so save some time and stress, it takes enough time that youget your rest break in legaly and then you are 30mins from MILAN,and ifyour vehicle is not too heavy you can save some money on the price of the ticket, these are just a few tips let us know what else you require as some one will have a answer that will help you.
i am off to italy tomorrow[fri]
first time in 10 years. i eagerly look forward to it and hope they dont change it to spain at the last moment. i assume there is much change. i am wondering if the dust bowl at jayat is still there. if so i wouldnt mind doing the sat nt/sun just for old time sake. is there anything i dont know with regards the routiers. i will go frejus,i always rathered it,and there was no motorways from chambery when i was using it last. is anyone using the national 6 or is there a weight limit on it now. when i was doing it fulltime,the goal was to pay as little tolls as possible,including tunnels,even if it meant going over the top. now i dont think i can be bothered.i wil use autoroute,as a lot of people know,the irish companies 15 years ago didnt mind tachos so much,things have changed though. i am having 24 now,the french are even into it now i am told. i have forgotten alot but will book up pronto. i probably wont be here to read the follow up to this unless i can get a computer over there
Sorry if I'm late. Yes Jayat is still there but Jean Yves dont give a monkeys about drivers. You will be better off coming off the A40 at junction6 & using the routiers there.
But IMO the BP at Macon for the weekend would be your best bet (If you can stand drunk brit drivers,I cant)
hi dave.i must admit to having got drunk with a few drunk brit drivers myself in the past,not that us irish are very good drinkers or anything like that.
i cant do it anymore,im 55 now.a bottle of wine with the dinner and maybe a beer or two after that and thats it. anyway. the trl arrives in liverpool tonite[fri]. going to vicenza through germany and austria. i wont bother going till sat morn and make for bastang[spelling] in belguim for sunday,have another 24 hrs off there so i can do the 6 days. tip tues,dont know about backloads yet. it seems very easy going this way as opposed to the tunnel. theres go box on the windscreen for austria.i dont have a clue about it,iv only been in austria 3 or 4 times and that was 20 years ago. does the go box cover the brenner as well?

I was very sorry to hear about Stan, I know it was a while ago now, but I never see anybody nowdays. When you are next talking to Kev please also give him my regards too.
