Buzzer:
A little bit of nostalgia,1977 and still around VTA 872S a 1977 Volvo F88 which started its journey with Coles Plant Hire in Devon, we bought her of a very young scrap dealer from Cornwall and he brought her up to our yard as he was confident when we saw it we would buy it and he was right. She had some fancy wild west paint job on her but was basically sound so a deal was made at £5K then we put a ton of money into her to get her how she should have been, we bought another donor F88 and had alot of help from the boys at MC truck & bus and got her nearer our standard, later on she had a second Granning rear lift axle grafted on to cope with the weights. This was not a show truck it was a genuine working one that went all over Europe including Bosnia back in the day.
We ran her for quite a few years but in the end she had to move on to pastures new, that’s when Paul Perris came on the scene and he had pestered me several times to let him buy it which he did, he was an owner driver from Thatcham near Newbury and he had her repainted and added lots of flash which was not our way but it was his to with what he wanted. When he had to retire due to ill health he sold her on but not sure who too but today she is owned buy an avid fan of F88’s and resides with two more examples of the same marque by Mark Hoskicks and believe he still owns her. She would still be capable of a days work if challenged and at 43yo not a bad record, cheers Buzzer.

In my opinion it looked far better when it was at DIT than any of those other incarnations
