UK Trucking Rates

We don’t have an equivalent of Landstar, more’s the pity, rates here tend to be agreed on an annual basis +/- a fuel surcharge, sometimes, so current market conditions are largely irrelevant. Anyway, take the lower figure you quote and halve it, your probably still better than most owner drivers on traction only work, some get more but more than £1.80 / mile say $2.03 would be very rare. Don’t forget our mileages are lower than yours between 9 hours max driving per day, compulsory 56mph speed limiters and heavy traffic nearly everywhere. If you do European, then the rates are lower, driven down by east European competition to such an extent that unless you’re specialised and able to charge more Brits rarely go over, tanks, oversize, concert tours and the like. Fuel in the UK is currently about $4.10 per US gallon. So all in all, stay where you are.

Just out of curiosity. When you say £1.80 per mile is for how much volume

When you say volume what do you mean? Our weight limit for artics is 44 tonnes gross which mean you can usually carry up to 28 tonne odd. Most lads wouldn’t see £1.80 per mile on traction. The docks pay £1.30/£1.40 odd.
