Glasgow Transcontinentals

@alexsaville I did a wee bit of searching last night on the balmore road site. Certainly closed for waste intake, I think it closed to waste around 2002. In 2006 there was a big hullabaloo due to water from the site contaminating a local water source used for fishing. They are currently capping it a bit at a time. Seemingly there is a lot of methane which they somehow harness and use to run diesel generators. These produce electricity which they sell to the grid. As for where they use now for landfill I couldn’t say for sure but, when I worked in Falkirk I used to see a good few of the CFs with the tipper trailers going up and down the M80. I assumed they were going to the I and H brown site that you pass heading towards Falkirk but I couldn’t confirm that for sure.
