With sat navs and Google maps I haven’t used a map in a few years and i notice my memory has gone from having a very good memory to now having a very bad memory
I suppose part of it is not useing it as much as before if you were travelling long distance your time on the boat would be taken up studying maps and writing down junctions numbers and once you went there once it was always in your head, now not so much maybe because your not noticing your surroundings as much because your listening to a sat nav or Google maps
As the saying goes use it or lose it I know I’m losing it
You are right, I’ve seen me use a sat nav for say the last few miles to places I’ve maybe been to once or twice, because I know I ain’t going to come up against a bridge or something, so never checked the map.
Then if another driver asks me directions later on for same place, I can’t remember the exact route.
It must be worse for those who rely totally on sat navs.
