A friend of mine came to grief doing that as he had booked off at Tewkesbury...…………………. ![]() ![]() ![]() Them were t'days when we were on neets.
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION
Here is a photo of My father in his Mercedes meeting one of our drivers at Atkins Derby. I believe it was a breakfast meeting when he treated the driver to breakfast. Atkins staff never complained & infact I got that still from a promotion video they had commissioned but I suspect it was the car then only a few months old rather than the van Atkins opened their café at Findern in 1968,nice and clean place and good snap. You had to be careful not to park in any of their VMU parking slots as the foreman would contact your firm and complain. Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTIONAnyone recognise the Volvo F88 ???
Dont think we have had a Mullard truck on before, anyone know anything ?? DCD UK Volvo. Looks like Specialist Freight Movements on door of Seddon Atkinson. Anyone know where they were based ??? H.J.Cutler Mercedes from Poole. Cant make the name out on the ERF ??? Any idea who the Volvo belongs to Chris Webb ?? Calor Transport Foden. D.Doyle Maggie with an Air Products Volvo and Christian Salvesen behind it. Think it says Rayvea ??? Transport on Volvo F7.
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION
I think the Mullard truck is part of the Philips Group, the Dutch electrical company. Dave.
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTIONIs the ERF George Davis they did containers
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION
Cheers for that.Dean. The trucks I drove pulling for Ewals in their colours were MANs (including the older models) a DAF, and a Scania on an R reg. I think you put one up a few months ago, an XXL MAN, but it was not one the motors that I drove...but I keep living in hope mate. ![]() The pic with the left hooker Scania Topliner was my era, they belonged to MTC (Mega trucking co) based in Zeebrugge and a depot at Alconbury, my ex guvnor in Colchester broke away from MTC, most drivers were Brit drivers home based.
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTIONThe blue F7 eight legger is one of Rayvens Transport from Halesowen. Still in business I believe.
Pete. Foden Forever!
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTIONHi Dean Mullards had a factory in Southampton on the right as you went into the town and they were part of the Philips group.
As for SFM specialist freight movements they had a yard near Cobden bridge in Southampton and had a contract out of ISR in Fawley refinery doing synthetic rubber to packing units at Membury airfield and at Yatesbury run by Sym's of Calne. I had two trucks on that work back then, two loads up and one back of salt stored at Yatesbury every day and we knew every pothole on that road that's for sure. Buzzer
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION
They were a famous electronics components manufacturer especially known for their cathode ray tubes used in TV's and wartime radar development. There was also Rediffusion at Chessington which was another big domestic TV manufacturer.
Re: PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTIONMorning Dean,
D.Doyle was a demolition company based in Birmingham and Pete Windrush is correct regarding the F7 belonging to Rayven transport of Halesowen. Thank you also for the Sammy Jones's feature, Cookie1 is your man to comment on those! Cheer's Pete
