Limp mode

The shift levers can fail, but they normally break physically rather than electrically. Good news is they are easy to change and don’t need programming, just plug a replacement in.
They can be repaired at places like Alliance Electronics or you can buy a new one. You could do with trying another one if possible.
I keep a spare repaired one for this sort of problem.

To replace, flick the side of the shift control off and you will see two torx screws at the bottom. These unscrew and the unit comes away from the seat, you can then get to the plug on the bottom and unplug it.
