MAN '16 26.440 500k OR Merc 2543 '14 350k?

Hello guys,

I need an advice please…

I need to buy a vehicle at £25k mark
2 vehicles I’m considering are

MAN 2016 26.440 with 500k km on the clock or

older

Mercedes 2014 2543 with 350k km on the clock

I would like to run it for minimum of 3 years (around 100k-120k km per year).

Any word of advice would be really appreciate.

Kind regards. Peter

Think the Merc would be the safer bet. With 350k on the clock that should last you 3 years or more. fuel is one of the pluses with them but once they get past 800k they best to get rid of them. Don’t know much about the newer MAN’s but parts are supposed be very dear.

Our place got rid of two M.A.N’s earlier this year as they’d started to become expensive.

3 years lease deal and they weren’t slow about getting rid. Replaced with two Volvo’s.

all depends if you will be person to drive it…Merc is ■■■■■ drive compare to MAN but will certainly cost you less to run…if not for repairing it then with better mpg for sure…

I drive a 14 plt euro 6 TGX 480 it’s got 378k on clock so a 16plt @500k is galactic km’s for age 160k ave year
If they’ve not already gone , thrust bearing , compressor may need doing , (mine has had both in last year ) genuine MAN compressor is £2500 +vat and fitting :open_mouth: and is not a 1 man job

Thank you very much for the replays.

I read a lot online as well and in the end I went for ‘safe’ truck

Scania 6x2 G410 '15 with 410k and for only £26000  - 12 months warranty too!!!

thats tragic as compressor can be rebuild for 200ish…or get one already rebuild for about 700

i would go MAN over Merc any day of the week.
