Or even a Confederation of sovereign States each with the unilateral right of opt out and substitution according to their own respective National democratic mandates.

While it’s clear that a Federal UK and Federal Germany and failure to recognise the independence of Catalonia is obviously an oxymoron in either case.

It’s also clear where the biggest fly in the ointment of Nationalism v Federalism originates.Let’s get this right the US obviously supported German Federal ambitions and by implication the resulting aggressive expansionist moves from the Danish and then Austro Prussian Wars through Franco Prussian War only reluctantly intervening against Germany’s never ending wish to dominate a Federal Europe made in Germany’s image in 1917 and obviously 1941.Then laughably again pushing the bs Federalism = peace in Europe agenda, even after the Yugoslav regime collapse debacle, because the US knows that Secession and a Confederal Europe, which maintains the premise of the sovereignty of Europe’s Nation States is a threat to the Federal US domestic regime. :unamused:
