Well,I had to leave my Mandator at Swansea with a u/s compressor so log booked it home to Sheffield one Friday night.It worked out quicker than using train,took 6 hours with 8 lifts. We got paid a min of 5 hours for Saturday plus train fare including going back on Monday to pick wagon up,but one of ours was going to Gorseinon so dropped me at C V Sales.

I can remember nearly every firm I had lifts with that night. George Beer,Calor Transport,Chas Armstrong,Corona,an F86 artic from Waterbeach,GKN artic from Telford,2 x Burtons the Tailors - or was it High Street Transport in 1975,on a Trowell Services changeover - and one of Sam Longsons/Hansons which saved me using night service bus,pub was shut though,0030 hrs. :grimacing: :laughing: :laughing:
