Route to lake Garda

Which sea crossing are you intending to use? It might have an effect on which way to go if you ship out to say Rotterdam.

Good point.
Dover Calais.
Even though we are pretty close to hull, the cost for a 7+ long van on p&o is too much.
Cheers.

The way I’ve been before was into Dunkirk down through Namur, Lux for brimming the tank into Swiss via Basle then through/over the Gotthard and down to Como, if you’re vehicle is under 3.5 t then you’ll have to pay approx £30 for a Swiss vignette. Going the scenic route is great obviously but if you’ve only got a fortnight you might want to crack on a bit as I’m guessing you’ve got roughly a 1,000 mile journey ahead. :open_mouth:

Each to their own etc, and in a car with a hotel room waiting at the other end Id say you were bang on. Crack on with it. But in a camper? Dunno so much? Keep off the m-ways and go for a wander maybe? Running the Simplon rather than the Bellinzona route (as an example) might put a few hours on the trip, but Id still suggest that as an option. Make the drive part of the holiday rather than a day of hell it`ll take a day to recover from!*

*Exaggerated for effect of course!
