Funding for training - it could be for you!

Owens_girl:
£1.6m European money for skills still available.

Organisations that provide learning and skills in Essex have another opportunity to submit proposals that will boost the skills of individuals and the productivity of businesses in the county.

This means that Essex haulage companies can in cooperation with a training provider, arrange cost free traning of drivers and other staff. One company which has already successfully taken up this opportunity is Rochford based Baltic Distribution.

Thanks for the link Jo. This may be of tremendous help to someone somewhere, made a sticky for the foreseeable future . Lib.

One such project is “girls in gear” which is a scheme to encourage females to come into the industry at all levels.

Opportunities include LGV training on rigids and artics, with female instructors. There’s also ADR, CPC & FLT.

Colleges in my area that do this are: Handbridge (Chester) St Helens and City College Manchester amongst others. There’s no fees, no loans and no nonsense, just a few forms and then hey presto- you’re in!

As Owens_girl says, this is funded from the European Union, so there’s no excuse for wannabes, ESPECIALLY FEMALES, not to attempt any of these qualifications. You’ve nothing to lose.

One advantage that most other training providers can’t match is that, because it’s done at/via a college, there is access to specialists in the assessment and assistance of candidates with dyslexia.

I can supply some contact details to those who are interested.

NOTE TO MODERATOR:- Please don’t view this as a commercial advert, it is specifically designed to target a particular group of people to attract them into the industry. For that group, there are no fees. In the interests of fairness and balance, I’d point out that those people not meeting the criteria for free courses can still partake. This is because education must be open to all. So it’s only slightly commercial  Just a bit.
