Seeing the item on Jim Squibb, who I knew from the early 60s brought back memories of speedway at Bannister Court, Southampton during the 1950s.
This caricature of Jim was drawn for me by Orf. during the 1950 season. ( I was aged ten). Have also included one of Alf Bottoms who latter went into midget car racing in the UK. Southampton had many great speedway riders during the 50s sudh as, Bert Croucher, Ernie Rawlings,Morrie Mattingly,Bob & Tom Oakley,Brian Hanham,Jack Vallis,Phil Bishop,Mike Tams,Roy Craighead ,…must stop before I get the old JAP out and do some serious damage.
