Scrap men were bugas !
In my early days at it went to yard in N London for load to R Oaks. The man says " Heres a couple of Quid go n get yourself a brekkie we,ll load you" Magic give him change from cafe n up the road I went. Tipped n had 50 odd car tyres in middle of load, back on it went n best part of two days to get rid n severe bo****king from gaffer. Having said that if I ever had copper bales on always had one for myself,used to weigh it n replace with soil, nice one
