Liverpool hauliers 1970/80

I remember Rainfords I seem to remember that Percy Owen was the shop steward, then there was Michael ‘o’ Leary he had green and cream Atki Borderers with ■■■■■■■ and Rolls Royce engines I think, they used to pull boxes, but don’t know who for though!

MOL had a driver they nicknamed ‘Kojak’ as he was totally bald, he was the only one I remember seeing regularly.

I used to work with Gerry headings at Kirkdale Haulage who worked for Alfred Dexter and his fitters mate Alan ‘Blackie’ from I think Netherley somewhere near the Eagle & Child pub is where he lived.

Derek Rooke was general manager at Kirkdale Haulage when they were in Charleywood rd which is now a chemical waste firm, as they were part of RTZ metals as was Williams Harvey now Eldapoint container yard.

Derek Rooke went to Rainfords as transport manager after he left Kirkdale Haulage.
