To add VAT multiply by 1.175 (obvious I know, but sometimes forgotten)
To subtract VAT multiply by 0.851
examples:
£10 * 1.175 = £11.75
£11.75 * 0.851 = £9.99925
That should be close enough and easy to remember/use on the calculator
