Assuming he hasn’t done any work since he retired he can book the whole time as rest, if he has done some work since retiring he should really use the ? symbol for the time since his last HGV shift ended to the start of the current shift, though to be honest unless he’s done some work in the last week or so no-ones likely to care anyway.Wouldn’t you use the ? Symbol to cover that piriod
Legally if you’d done any work other than HGV driving you should use the ? symbol, otherwise you could legally book rest.
