reduction?

Ok, If i started 05.01 on Tuesday instead of 06:35 would that make it another deduced? or would that still be one?

It’s still one reduced daily rest period.

The regulations say nothing about 13 or 15 hour shifts, those figures come from the amount of daily rest that has to fit into the 24 hour period from the start of the shift.

It’s only the amount of rest that’s taken in the 24 hour period that makes it a regular or reduced daily rest period, the term is “Reduced daily rest period” not extended shift period

If you do a 15 hour spread-over from the start to the end of the shift you can only fit 9 hours rest into the 24 hour period (15+9=24), the length of shift is only relevant in as much as it dictates how much rest you can fit into the period of 24 hours from the start of the shift.

  • A 15 hour shift followed by a 9 hour rest period = 1 reduced daily rest period.
  • A 13.5 hour shift followed by a 9 hour rest period = 1 reduced daily rest period
  • A 13.5 hour shift followed by a 12 hour rest period = 1 reduced daily rest period
(13.5 hour shift + 10.5 hours rest = 24 hours - so that’s a reduced daily rest period of 10.5 hours even though you had 12 hours rest)
  • A 12 hour shift followed by a 10 hour rest period = 1 reduced daily rest period.
(This is obviously because the rest period was less than 11 hours)
