I'm going to justify his remarks about being childish, by suggesting that size 12s is probably exaggerating, size 7s at best I reckon and you know what they say about small feet ![]() ![]() ![]()

Probably right ![]()
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversi havent been able to stop crying since you said i had small feet.
first rate put downs guy, really great stuff. ![]()
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversby the way though,
all i said was this thread and many others that have seen loads of your accounts being blocked have been pointless childish squabbling. and many of you DO need to grow up. you however decided to make it personal by commenting on my foot size. which i've reported you for. toodle loo ![]()
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk drivers
I never got blocked so ner ner ner ner ner ![]() Oh and I do have size 12 feet ![]() And I hope you are not suggesting that I grow up too, I'm having so much fun as a childish retard and I would like that to continue indefinitely ![]() However, if you have a constructive comment, or wish to join in the fun in any way, feel free, it's getting a little tame on here of late ![]()
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversAs the person who started this thread I have found it very helpful. As most people I have learned I may come across people in transport offices with attitude problems ( but that's transport anywhere ) shot jobs to get a foot on the ladder ( transport anywhere ) mad hamafradite/transexual lorry drivers a new one on me but we live and learn. But most of all I enjoy conversations that end up as stupid pointless arguments and slanting matches as Its like a conversation down the pub

Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversI did wonder what KR79 thought about what was said on his thread. its nice to know he found some of it helpful. in the future when univarcity students are study the history of internet forums this thread will become a classic example. this because so much of it is so incredible and so many made there point of veiw. I read a lot of forums and not just transport. i have neverseen another thread like this.
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversTo be fair I use about 6 different Internet forums this is the only trucking one and I have been using one concerning moving to Canada but the rest are just ones that concern my outside work intrests. I have come to the conclusion only about 20% of the answers to your question will be useful constructive info the rest of the content will be either slightly wrong totally wrong or just plain irelivent. To be fair this is quite often the case in a real life conversation or debate.
For instance in my local on Friday night a conversation went from Saturday's millwall west ham game to wether one of our groups hair was grey or ash blonde? To if a tortoise lost it's shell would it be naked or homeless. You gotta go there to come back

Well it's both, innit? Unless he's a travelling tortoise and hitches a new one behind, all cash no credit, nudge, nudge nods as good as a wink, eh, eh? The secret of longevity is to start early in life.
Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy. Be a lamp unto yourself and seek your own liberation with diligence.
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversJust look at this thread, 160 odd posts, 14 thou hits. What's happened to the ex-
Pat section that we don't get stuff like this any more?
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversA combination of things I think Chris, the restructuring of the LMIA scheme meant that interest in Canada fizzled out. Then the negativity about the job over here from the doom and gloom merchants made that even worse.
A lot of people gave it the swerve after the hermaphrodite saga, others completely lost the plot during that time. Really we should work a bit harder ourselves too, you and I can both knock out a decent enough diary, so we should. We could also share good restaurants and other useful info and all the other every day things that we encounter out on the road. It's our forum, so it's up to us to make it worth a look really.

Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversI have a brther in Toronto who keeps telling me to move to Canada, I've been driving for 3 years and in my early 50's......maybe too late. Kids are grown up over here (UK) and I quite fancy a change, suppose my question is. What are the employment options like? We (the wife) and I can settle at my brothers to start with and he has offered to sponsor us. Would it be better to get paperwork sorted before applying for work or will I still need to go through the newby stages of working for a canadian company?
Also I agree there should be more diary type entries from Canada. ![]()
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversUnless anything has changed in recent months, you may struggle to get a work visa to drive trucks in Canada. You'd need to find a company able to employ migrant workers, they would need a LMIA in order to do so, and those have been in short supply ever since the government tightened the migrant worker rules a couple of years back. Companies that have LMIAs available were - last I heard - using them for foreign drivers already in Canada but looking for a new employer for whatever reason.
I suspect the pressure on driver shortages might have eased too, with lots of redundant workers from the tar sands oil production facilities which closed when the oil price dropped. I speak from a position of mostly ignorance, though...
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversWhat you do is:
1. Get your rear end here: http://www.canadalive.co.uk/ 2. If you have 1 year Class 1 experience you give them your money 3. Then they take a bit more and import you into Canada and give to one of the big boys like Strobards Bisons etc smth of North America 4. Then you progress into good company and send me message with this info so I know as well as reward for enlighting you on this forum while others didnt This process involve undergoing Class 1 training over there and costs as roumors say 6k or so to these guys you will meet down there, there are multiple of theme there so price may vary And you need around 11 000 CAD in your account if going alone + some adds for each other member of family So around 20k investment probably - no go for hobo... or must be good at making papers... Once youre there you either join status of Britishexpats soap opera Shtruudelbah... reputation or divert from them try to pretend to be native or just accept being the same as Romanian truck driver in UK just being UK truck driver in canada Good luck, and dont forget to thank me for showing you the way that others here didnt and saving time on googling P.S. Don't forget about step 4.... Karma you know... ![]() Warning: Only for living in cab 2+ weeks, in reality probably 4+ weeks at a time until find better company if this is not acceptable then probably better stay in UK layby TruckNETUK is a corrupt institution run by creatures paid by transport industry.
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversIts not as easy now as it was a couple of years ago.
Ontario might not be a good bet for you, truck driving does not qualify for PNP so you wont be able to apply for PR there. Your brother cant sponsor you in Canada so theres no real advantage to being in ON. There is a new initiative in the Maritime provinces cleverly called the Atlantic Provinces Immigration Program. It does apply to truck drivers, and a lot of companies here are looking to import fresh meat on it, although theres only 2000 places a year. It does away with the need for LMIA, cuts the long wait to apply for PR and won’t tie you to one employer, but its almost like applying for PR up front, lots of paperwork. So much paperwork in fact it'll probably deter most applicants which is no bad thing, leaves more space for the seriously keen. The situation in Canada changes all the time but this is currently a route in. You are not too old, but you should probably get a move on if youre determined to try it. Read as much as you can and try to be open minded. For some people its a great life for others its a living nightmare, theres truth in kyk's post but if you avoid the pitfalls perhaps you'll be one of the ( maybe ) 10% of sucess stories. Good luck. Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversAFAIK you can come in on the family stream, or whatever its called. A brother definitely satisfies that condition, if he's a citizen, even more so. As for working here on that scheme I have no idea. I think you will still need an LMIA, but you won't need PNP as you don't need the provincial nomination if you're being sponsored by a family member. But I don't know for sure.
Google is your friend here. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk drivers
You can only be sponsored by a brother if you are the only living relative he has. Last edited by neilg14 on Mon Apr 24, 2017 4:25 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Good punctuation and grammar, makes the difference between helping your uncle Jack, off a horse & helping your uncle, jack off a horse.
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk driversReally! Wow! Does that apply to everybody or just us WASP types?
If that is the case then it puts to bed another misconception about how the brown people get here. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
Re: Manitobia companys taking on uk drivers
Haha, everybody, you can only sponsor certain relatives under certain conditions. Good punctuation and grammar, makes the difference between helping your uncle Jack, off a horse & helping your uncle, jack off a horse.
