Thank you for e-mailing President Bush

Well, what the heck, it’s worth a go. Ask the US president to do something to benefit his country. You never know eh?

My email:
Mister President.
I write to you as a citizen of the United Kingdom who would very much like
to become an American. I am a truck driver over here in England, and I know
that the American Trucking sector is very short of drivers . With reference
to your speech during your trip to England recently, where you spoke of “Our
lasting friendship” between our nations, I should like to know if you will
be taking any steps to allow easier access to the American labour market for
English truck drivers willing to assist in keeping the great American nation
moving. The United States is dependant on truckers for the majority of the
transport of goods, and I know several truckers over here who would jump at
the chance to work in the USA. Since our great nations have such “A close
friendship” as you say, surely it should be a simple task for us to share
our labor resources for our mutual benefit? Of course, security
considerations must be taken into consideration in the current climate, but
for the citizens of even two such allies to find so many obstacles in the
way of working together is a blight upon our alliance. I hope that now this
issue has been drawn to your attention Mister President, that you will find
time to find a solution to this difficulty.

Because of the large volume of e-mail received, the President cannot personally
respond to each message. However, the White House staff considers and reports
citizen ideas and concerns.

Wonder why the .gov was capitalised? Are they just a tad insecure about their status?
Ah well, we can but hope that the email gets into the hands of someone who actually wants to fix something. Can’t do much with prayers without acting too. And since Bush was so intent upon saying what great allies the US and UK are, thought I’d try and turn that on its’ head and see how far this alliance works both ways.

Don’t forget about the Welsh,Scottish and Northern Irish guy’s who would like to do the same,all british citizens are not just english you know!!!

the problem is that with the old commonwealth (Inda, Pakistan etc) too many people from countries other than Britain can hold British passports so they cannot rely on a british citizen actually being British.

Why don’t you get Mexican citizenship then cross the border because nobody seems to care.

It is just as difficult for an American to work in the UK. My ex nextdoor guy back in the UK was an American, married to a Brit, they got divorced and he was deported.

My wife still gets hassle when going into the UK even though she is married to a Brit.

Can I ask why ‘Pakistan’ is classed as an obcenity ■■ ( P A K I S T A N )

Point taken about the rest of the UK peoples.

And on the reverse problem, maybe I should send one to Blair on the same lines?
