Couple of questions RE Shunting work in Austalia or Canada

Hi all just looking for some advice and info. Firstly is there such thing as Shunting jobs in Australia and Canada? And secondly if there is what would be the chances of a UK resident getting a Shunting job out there? I do hold a full class 1 licence over 3 years and also I do have experience doing Shunting.

Many years ago, when Canada were handing out TWP’s like candy, H&R, brought out drivers to Alberta on a LMO/TWP for City drivers that shunting came under, but to get PR, those drivers then had to go Long Haul.
There are jobs shunting but getting an LMIA/TWP and onto PR would be virtually impossible without doing long haul.
Everything has changed in the last 4/5yrs since the Gov changed from LMO to LMIA and clamped right down on companies.
The only hope for you I think is if by any chance you have a well qualified/skilled wife and came here through Express Entry, then you would already have PR on the back of her.
Or, you are between 18-31yrs old and able to enter on an IEC 2yr open TWP which would allow you to do any job but you will not get PR after.
Don’t know about the other Provinces.

Yes, of course there are shunting jobs in Australia, the likes of Coles, Woolworths … and even lesser companies … your class 1 licence doesn’t mean nothing in Australia (NSW at least) they would convert it to a HR (class 2) then you would be required to re take your class 1 a drive around and see if the examiner wants to assess you … you do not have to do a test here in nsw.

A class 1 will not get you a visa in Australia.
