I have not lived there,the things to watch out for when buying property is to check the rights of the locals, there have been cases of shepherd’s walking their goats or sheep through the middle of the house .
If deciding to be a resident in Spain, there is a time limit to register with the local Police.
Living abroad affects the tax status in the UK, there are rules under non domicile,domicile,resident or non resident.
The law allows so many days a year away from the UK where income can be tax exempt in the UK including savings.
Keep airline tickets and bookings as proof of the exit and entry dates.
Without speaking Spanish, life will be harder, an evening college course prior to going will pay in dividends.
Houses sold without planning permission get destroyed by the authorities, a trustworthy lawyer is advisable to verify the deeds and contract on property.
It is not a long drive to get the ferry from the mainland and take a campervan to Menorca.

Rent. That way you don’t get stuck with a dodgy house.
