Driving in Australia?

Can I go to Australia and drive on a class 1 doing class 1 work or would I need to sit a test over there ?

Worry about getting a visa first. How do you plan to enter the country with a permit to work? Are you eligible? Truck driving is not currently recognised on the Australian skills shortage lists so getting in with that occupation will be tricky.

I heard it was on there short list, but like the previous post says, you will need a visa, I recently had one for 3 months, and cost just short of £250 with a handling company doing the paperwork!

Can’t help on the licence though, good luck!

No, you can’t. Officially you have to do an HR (Class II) licence first and after twelve months you can upgrade to HC (Class I) or MC (road trains). However, if you’ve had your UK licence for some time the licencing office should let you go straight for the HC licence.

Go to my thread " Truck photos from Australia and Tasmania " in the Old duffers section, there’s a bit about it on there about it.
