Didn't pass :(

Cat C today, didn’t pass (that sounds so much better than the four letter F word  ), gears and lane discipline. Not put me off, looking to re-book, it’s just going to cost me a packet! Gears I had a lot of trouble with but thought I’d got there after a good day yesterday, hopefully a little more practice will sort it out. Loving the driving though.

I know the feeling - don’t let it get to you. There are so many factors to consider: test nerves, luck (or bad luck), etc.

I failed my C twice! First time I just wasn’t ready for it. So I changed instructors and the second time I just ‘went to bits’ on the test. Passed third time though without any more lessons.
Strangely enough, I passed my C+E first time.

That is a good sign. Get back to it and enjoy it some more - it will come right.

Good luck
Alan

Thanks. Just re-booked, next Thursday, couple of hours tuition before. Hope to sort my gears out by then!

i failed mine 1st time 2, got it 2nd time round, i messed up in gears 2, it will all come 2 you again, thats good you booked again, dont let it get you down just get back on the horse, ull get it, good luck next time keeps us posted how you get on

Hey I failed once on both tests was devastated on C more than C+E because I knew it was something really simple I failed for, I even resorted to driving test standard everywhere and vowed not to drive any different until passed ,this helps although is a bit tedious. You probably where unlucky on the route, I’m still a bit skeptical about the fact that they have to fail people, lane discipline is a little harsh to be failed on unless it is something major.

Unlucky exit, all the best for next Thursday

It was a fair fail, I messed up with the gears for sure. And the lane discipline fault was probably heightened by an aggressive van driver on my tail…but I’ll learn from these errors. Don’t know if it was nerves but I didn’t hold things together like I should have. It’s all good experience anyway. Thanks for the gl wishes.

Sorry to hear your non pass  but with that good positive attitude im sure you pass next time
good luck

Keep going, I messed up my gears twice and passed. So if it happens again forget it and keep driving as well as you can. Because as long as it don’t affect any other road user and you don’t keep doing it, it will only score as minors as it did for me. Gears can be tricky on these coupled with nerves I struggled a bit. The best thing is, you what the test is all about now. Good luck for next time.

It’s not necessarily about what errors you make, but how calmly you deal with them. If you are all flustered while looking for a gear and take your eye off the ball then you will be marked down for what’s likely to happen next.

I stalled on my test but still passed. He praised me for being calm in my reactions.

It’ll come soon enough and you will get that blue certificate in your hand before you know it

Best of luck on your retest.

Wishing you all the very best of luck (and skill  ) for next Thurs

Sorry to hear that mate! :frowning:

I passed last Saturday with 7 Minor’s with Coates.

Who was your instructor?

If you struggle getting into second on the test, dont fanny about with it, just bang it straight into 3rd.

Hope you get a pass next time. I passed my cat C first time but have failed my C+E twice now and its all been down to nerves more or less.

Im sure you’ll nail it next time though. Good luck.

Instructors were John, Jim, then Chris (pre-test); they were all great, John is such a gentleman, a talent for teaching in a positive way. I’ll post my full thanks when I pass  hopefully next week  .

Looking back on the test, although I didn’t feel the nerves, I think I was overcome a bit with the ‘occasion’ and lost concentration. Yes I had trouble selecting gears, which I had sussed the day before (although late in the day), guess I was just rushing things on test. I know what to do, just need to apply myself.

Thanks to all for the wishes.

Hi Exit sorry to hear you did not pass, but im sure you will next time
I failed both c and c+e the first time. passing both at the second attempt
Im sure next time you will be just fine with the gears. A little bit more practice and you will have a good pass. In isolation the gear changes should be easy it when you have to think and do several thing at once it becomes harder. Good luck next time
Mike

Oh, and congrats on your success, who was your instructor? Was that Cat C?

That’s bad news mate… sure you’ll pass next time

Best wishes for next time

Sometimes easier said than done especially in a test situation but just try and relax and give the examiner a nice smooth SAFE drive…

Good luck Fella
