Alert LGV Services

Any info on Alert LGV Training based in Leics area. Good or Bad?

stay well clear and ffs dont travel down from Glasgow.

The guy posts on here, full of ■■■■.

Moved this thread to the training related forum, should get more answers in here.

I dont know what there like as far as training goes, if that is what your after, but they also run an agency and i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, they claim to be the most proffesional outfit out there but the reality is that couldnt be further from the truth, as a previous post put it they just talk B******s. I may be wrong biut i dont think they have any first choice contracts its all second and third choice.

If you’re looking in the Leics area - give Data Academy a call. Speak to Rick or Dorian and they will make sure you’re well looked after.

Aye they should be salesmen, the patters great at first and then you cotton on that its all ■■■■■■■■.

Dont call them an Agency he will be on shortly shouting he is a consultant for large haulage companies.

I have just completed 14 hours CPC ? training with them on this OCRS course, The sales pitch started straight away from first day.At end of course there was no certificate we done two full days in classroom with nothing to show for it

Check Companies House they are trading under a a voluntary agreement of liquidation order
last filing for the Company was 20th January 2012.

Are there courses approved and recognised , was my agency that paid for it.

What about this JSA firm they want you to use for self employed or umbrella company …sounds a bit like job seekers allowance.

Hi Sonylog,
I’m not sure whether a periodic DCPC provider has to issue a certificate, but most of the DCPC providers I work for do issue certificates.
It’s also very common that certificates are posted a short time after the course, so when did you take the course and what were you told (if anything) about certificates?

Yes, that looks to be perfectly true, but are you suggesting that something isn’t right about that?

:arrow_right: Click this link for an answer direct from the JAUPT website.

This link to a post on TN by Banquo gives info on how you can check whether your DCPC hours have been uploaded to the official database, but please allow a reasonable time after your course before you enquire, or maybe you could phone Alert to ask.

Thanks for the links Dave will leave it a few days and check them out, as for contacting ALERT I will be distancing myself as far as possible from them, want nothing to do with them directly or otherwise, the claims they were making were too good to be true as has now been discovered, think the agency I’m with are going to get there fingers burned here, better them than me though.

Why travel down from Glasgow to Leicester fro training  as there are several recommended trainers in Glasgow

Look here viewtopic.php?f=46&t=44667&p=503949#p503949

Or has been said try Data Academy dataacademy.co.uk/ sure Rick will be able to help & look after you

But please avoid the Brokers & there sals pitch

I have recently passed using Highfield Heavies in Glasgow mate, really good trainer called Pat, give them a call.
You also have Ritchies and GTG so why go down south?

OCRS. That rings a bell :stuck_out_tongue: Think blazing saddles

100% definitely they do.

Each of our courses has a substantial handout that contains a blank certificate at the end. The delegate is requested to complete this (saves spelling mistakes etc with names) and it’s then signed by the trainer.

They also complete a feedback form.

These are just some of the minimum requirements laid down by JAUPT.

Pete

The 2 I have attended we had feedback forums but the certificated we either collected in person or they were sent out to us

So your agency sent you there for a bit of training and they tried to poach you.

I have been on training coarses with this company and had my certificates posted to me and hrs clocked to my DCPC no probs at all. Work seems ok ,and been on the JSA for sometime a pucker company very helpful  checkout the JSA web site for contractors

Already done it and it looks like there advocating Agencies to use their service getting their drivers on to this scheme only as a way of getting round the EU Agency Workers Directive, Drivers on PAYE who have completed the qualifying period are selling themselves short if they then switch to this scheme.

Only one making £££££££ will be the Agency as they will have no employers NI contributions to make, or holiday pay entitlement to pay or SSP commitments ohh and of-course JSA with their fees and deductions and their 13% retainer.

Based on my earnings as a sole trader operating as a limited company if I took this option I am going to be £85 a week worse off than I am now with my own accountant doing my accounts for me.

And I’m 100% legal and above board.

HAHA that post you sent me,

That was the exact same quote he told all 14 of us on the course at the weekend that he was signing the contracts for these new Nationwide and International Contracts on Thursday 1st March and that there would be a big announcement in the Commercial Motor about it…when it all falls through wonder what the excuse will be this time ■■?

Back to the old time share scam or maybe double glazing…maybe thats why its called ALERT…

Better ALERT your agency if they have signed up with this guy, Walter Mitty hasn`t got a look in.

Maybe this will answer your question Gordon, here is an email I sent to Stobart and the response from the Training Manager and Recruitment Team.

Dear Sirs,

I have just completed a 2 day OCRS course for credit towards my CPC.

The course was run by Mr Chris Roe, Alert Driver Training of Leicester, it was done through my agency ADS Kilmarnock.

He claims to have secured major work from yourselves and was offering us full time work through his Company.

Formula One core team drivers and support…for the formula 1 race team

Night shift

Day Shift

Tramping

International Tramping.

I am very suspicious of these claims as I know the formula one position is a specialised area and you wouldn’t put an agency driver

on this type of operation.

He said he had further contracts with Fowler Welch and .norbert-dentressangle. I know this to be rubbish.

It beggars belief that he expects drivers to take this in but he has also conned the agency I work for into signing up to supplying

second tier drivers to this fictional scheme.

Apparently the contracts will be signed tomorrow !

Can you confirm or deny that you have positions available , in this realm either with this Company or outwith.

Regards

Good Afternoon

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately we don’t work with this person and if we have any vacancy available we always advertise on our website.

Kind Regards

Thank you for your email.

We recruit all our drivers directly and do not use any third parties or contract to any outside sources for any full-time positions. I hope this answers your question.

Kind regards

Zoe
