ADR Study material?

Afternoon all, hope someone can help…

I’m looking at getting ADR, is there any sources of study material about, or can it only be done via a paid course?

Be very Greatful for any pointers, cheers all [emoji41]

You don’t need study material, it’s 5 days of death by PowerPoint with tests along the way. It’s an easy course but very boring! Also, from what I’ve seen the “extra” pay isn’t really worth the outlay of the course, Probably not helped by the thousands of blokes like me that the army put through the course for free!

Personally unless you’ve been offered a job with decent pay I wouldn’t bother

If it has DCPC hours (21 or more) attached then it might be worth it

Our ADR course includes tanks but excludes radioactive and explosives. 28hrs driver cpc. Trucknet discounted rate £540 fully inclusive of exams, VAT, cpc upload fees and accommodation if you’re more than 70 miles from NG17 3FW. Next course is last week of this month.

Hi Benjie83,

To answer your question… in the UK, an ADR certificate (card) can only be obtained via a paid course, which you’ve attended and then taken the exams.

Thanks for all the great advice Gents [emoji41][emoji41]

Company I may be working for to tankers and I just felt it may be useful, PLUS geographically it could be useful should I relocate…

Really appreciate all the advice though, so please do chuck in any ops folks [emoji41][emoji41]

I’ve just passed my mod 2 so hoping if my brains right, I’ve 5 yrs before I need to retest on cpc…

So for example if I did 28hrs on ADR now, would that be valid/count towards the next one?

Quick question, does the length/price jump significantly if I wanted to do rads/explos?

Im feeling if I’m gonna do it, I may aswell go full hog, strings to bow is my kinda thought pattern…

Many thanks again as always [emoji41]

Pass mod4 then do ADR with DCPC hours
That way you get a 5 year DQC from passing mod4 and have the hours from the ADR banked towards your next DQC

Check that the ADR provider has the course approved for DCPC hours - cost is a little more but well worth it

Unless things have changed in the passed couple of years, Peter’s place doesn’t do those two (very few do). When I’ve looked elsewhere for them many quoted around 400 per module for those as they are very specialised.

Wouldn’t bother with them as anyone who’d take you on there would put you through those, possibly with internal trainer since they are very rare. Plus the majority will want you to have held a licence for some years for them.

Also remember you need to refresh it every 5 years so if you did those, you have to addon a large chunk to refresh them too.

Only really need classes 2 to 9 (excl 7 [radioactive]) with packages and tanks, like the one Peter and most others do.

If you do it, don’t bother trying to learn anything before hand. Just go in with a very awake brain and don’t operate heavy machinery afterwards as its quite intense. Also don’t worry if by the end of day 1 you’re wondering how you’ll ever remember it all - if well taught you will surprisingly.

Pssst…lookup the meaning of BLEVE to be teachers pet esp at Peter’s. (Not responsible if you get beaten up outside for being a swat).

Paid £360 for mine. All classes (except radioactive and explosives) plus tanks plus 28hrs CPC upload.

There’s a good quiz app you can download for about 5 quid… Passed my ADR with Peter Smyth, brilliant place.
ADR quiz is the app to look for.
